Clover by the park and natura loft are currently being built, can they register using new address?? :?
Yes....as long as the developer's committed TOP date is no later than 31/12/2011. Meaning, the home owner must move in to the new place by the time P3 starts. -

Hi Winnie,hi mamemo
we signed up early last year and probably back then not so many PVs yet. However, after much deliberation, we decided to give CH a miss and applied for KCPP under phase 2c as we are w/n 1km from both schools....cos chances too slim for CH. I have checked around on KCPP and they are ok just kinda overshadowed by the other 2 heavy wts.
cheers
Thanks...in that case, think I'll give CH a miss though it's a pity because it's just beside my block. Think I'll enroll my boy in my alma mater instead and just concentrate on preparing him well for P1

mamemo:
when is your child due for P1 reg? Izit tis year?I also went for PV talk bt too bad nothing i can offer the school. According to the sch, only 2 applicant from Natura loft. Actually alot of ppl purposely move within 1km fm CH.I'm also living with 1 km of CH. I went for the PV talk and applied for PV, but no reply from the principal so very disappointed. The least they could do is to reply non-acceptance so that I can focus on other schools in Bishan.
I think CH is going get even tougher to go in, considering there are 2 new developments near it, Natura loft and clover by the park..maybe that's why they dun even bother to reply me -
Winniepooh:
u have made a wise move to reg with KCPP. I juz happened to be within 1km from CH but 1-2km from KCPSS, if i could get a cfirm pl in KCPSS i wouldnt hv sleepless nite over CH ballotinghi mamemo

Hi pokemon, my child is due for reg next year. Why I consider CH is
1) Proximity to my house and
2) There is an affiliated Sec School
And I like the learning environment in CH when I toured the school during the PV briefing.
Haha...so I should consider selling my house ! -

Mamemo, why need to sell your plc? U mentioned reg your kid in your alma mater, izit around here? Though CH hs affliation to its sec sch but there is a cut off point in order to continue in their sec, we were given notice that by year 2014, the cut off point wil be raised to 240 (currently is 225) which is only 10 pts lower than the standard entry point to the sec. Its like as good as no affliation. -

My kid is only due for registration next year, so that's why we were very gan jiong about the PV this year. My alma mater is in Toa Payoh, Pei Chun in fact. Lots of people advised me to just reg him in Pei Chun, less headache and stress. But my close friend told me to try to give a shot at CH since we are within 1 km and also there is affiliated sec school. So I thought of trying for CH.
I didn't know they are going to raise the cut off point. But looking at my niece's previous Sec-school-choosing experience, affiliation does make a difference. My niece scored 244 and barely made it into Chung Cheng High(Main). My ex-boss's son scored 235 and breezed into CH because he was from the primary section. -
Ya mamemo, i understand how u feel, is like since CH so near home and such a gd sch, some more within 1km, others cant even reg.
But pei chun is also a gd sch n nd no ballotg as old students. Even u are selected as PVs in CH, it cant guarantee u a plc, by then u wont be able to get bk the place in pei chun.
If i hv such gd cfirm sch for my DD, i wont even try my luck with CH,since the affliation cut off marks is so high. -
Hi mamemo, will u give up a confirmed place at PeiChun and undergo balloting to try for a place at CH? If the answer is no, then I think just forget about PV-ing at CH to save urself the headache.
Actually there are a lot of parents in a similar situation as u, who have a guaranteed place in their alumni but would prefer a school nearer their house (but need to ballot). But I guess in ur case the distance is not so bad as PeiChun is quite near to Bishan? -
Hi Mamame,
Luanee is right. Alot of parents are probably in the same predicament as you. But you need to weigh your opportunity cost especially if your alma matter is a good school as well. Is it worth taking the risk and in the end, probably end up with nothing??? This is something you need to weigh for yourself.
We had the option of TNS (within 1km) or MBS (alma matter). In the end, I decided to go for MBS as the opportunity cost was too great as what if we didn’t get any??? In addition, looking at how parents weep with joy/ sorrow on the TV during balloting and the anxiety they had to go through… I decided to go for the safest but also a good route.
Well… no regrets. In fact, putting your kids back to alma matter there are some great memories (seeing them wear the uniform you used to wear, able to sing with them the school song that you sang before, etc…) the experience is just so diff. There is also a special connection to the school as a result of that which I never imagine I would by sending the kids to alma matter.
