As mentioned before, SHHK will look at places available after phase 2A to determine how many recommendation letters they will issue. So that means they will choose to whom they will issue the letters. While I can't say for certain on what basis they make the selection, it is reasonable to believe that seniority (years of membership) and contribution play a part.my child born in 2007. Need help in getting SHHK members to refer my husband (Hokkien). He can meet up with you, at your convenience. Please guide him how to volunteer at SHHK.
So even if your husband is successful in joining SHHK, he will only have been a member for 2 years from now till registration in 2013. The chances of you getting a recommendation letter is really not too great.
Wish you the best of luck! :xedfingers: -
It just occured to me that once the results of 2A2 are out, we have only 2.5 working days - thurs to Sat, to find out if we have received the recommendation from SHHK. I bet their phone lines will be ringing off the hook during those days. How to get through then? I called them to feedback that they should list the names of the children who have gotten the recommendation on their website. That way, we do not have to call and call and call. They said they will consider my feedback but it is unlikely to happen.

i know the council will meet to decide who will get the recommendation letter but i just wonder do they meet straight after the 2A2 registration over or have to wait until 14 th july Thursday then they have the meeting. There is a difference leh as it will mean for us who are waiting for the recommendation letter when to call them. i think i might be going straight down to huay kuan or call up them up -
Since there will unlikely be balloting for phase 2A2, they should know the number of places available by the close of 2A2 on 12 July. When they actually meet is anybody’s guess though.
But if I were them, I would have consolidated all the names by now, and arranged them in order of priority. So once they know how many recommendations to make (eg. 12), then just take the first 12 names on the list and issue the recommendation. -
My understanding is that they will only decide AFTER 2A2 how many letters to issue and who to give it to. Timing is short - so give them so time to sort out. I recall from an old event that they have to work OT during this stressful time.
Parents can try calling them, or even try calling the school. I think my friend received a call from school that she was successful. Calling shhk is another idea - but the phones will be off the hook, so have patience.
FYI, the letter MAY/not be posted to you. In one case, she received letter in the mail. In other cases, the letter is with the SCHOOL. Parents just need to bring their documentation (BC, IC, cert etc) and then go to school to report and inform - school should have the list of eligible kids to counter check. -
Seems like this group is the most unsecured in the Phase 2B group?
Those in PV and GRL should already know where they stand.
Why the need to shortlist after P2A2... aren't there supposed to be balloting if there are more applicants?

Daddy D,
yes this group is the most unsecured in phrase 2b which sometimes i do regret not applying for PV. for some schools under clan too popular and they cannot release more than too many to do balloting. for popular school imagines they release letters to 100 parents + pv for school+ rc to ballot for maybe only 30 places, not feasible loh -
anyone knows for nan chiau, they are still enrolling 300 students or they are reducing this year?
