      Blur Dad:

      Hi

Yes, Yes. No tuition how can? I am not sure of sec school. As for primary school. I knew 2 top GEP girls from NYPS have more then 10 tuition class per week.

Those parents who has DS/DD in NYPS GEP Class will know who I am talking about..

I really admire those top students for PSLE, O-Level and A-Level who appeared in newspaper said that they do not have any tuition at all. With good time management and teachers help they are able to achieve good result and become the top students in Singapore. Some more there was one student last year in RPS, he not only top in PSLE but also able to skip one level. He is real gifted manz!!!
:yikes: :yikes: Where do they find the time for anything else?

Can you please kindly share which tuition centre is this and what subject it is for? My niece in IP is not doing too well and looking for English & Maths tuition (maybe Science too as her Physics also not too good). Can you please advise as I do not have kids in sec sch so do not know where to go. Thanks.

My kids are classified as ordinary. One thing i know, to get high gpa in RI cannot be just training but must be natural.

Didn't know you had kids in RI, Edureach. Those with high GPA in RI are indeed very bright. And also very hardworking.

My ds2's classmate's brother is in GEP and went to RI. He's now in Year 5. I often see him with his mom when we are in school picking our younger boys. At least 2x a week, if not more. His mum says he's very free! Ends classes often home by by 2 or 3pm. Don't know what CCA he join, only need to stay back 1x a week too. He has no tuition either. Doesn't sound like a very busy RI boy. Has no problem coping with school obviously.

Interestingly, I have FB friends who are students. A few now doing Medicine in NUS. All previously from RI/RGS/HCI but not from gEP. When in school, they had no tuition, and they had time to do school CCA plus outside CCA. I always did wonder how they do it???!!! My kids nowhere as \"supergirl or superboy\".

Haha! Parents'expectations no choice for them. Want to get scholarships or enter the top courses locally like medicine, dentistry and law. Those with gpa 3.8 and above really good, the rest are just pure hardwork.
Above 3.8 is considered very good? Only in RI, I suppose.

Hi blur dad, did your friends ds with sa 79.x and maths award eventually get into ri from wait list status? My ds same case above 79.5 below 80 with platinum snips and grade 8 piano achieved two years back. Looks like he will be on waitlist. I will prepare him for waitlist status after the interview. But would like to know chance if on wait list. His p5 was 83%. Thanks

                        Otah:
Yesterday, went to help pick up my sec2 nephew from a prominent tuition centre. This is a class cater for IP I guess, since I can identitfy them from their uniform. Did a count , 6-RI, 1-HCI, 1-NYGH, 1-RGS, 1-DHS, 1-?(in home cloth). It seems like RI students need tuition the most. Is it because their courses are tough or they don't really teach (heard from a RI parent). But we are seeing parents rushing for RI every year. Do select school which is most suitable for your kids and not just becos of \"θ™ŽηˆΆζ— ηŠ¬εβ€œ saying or heirtage...

That is probably an over generalisation. Which subject is it ?
