      Jennifer:

Elder boy is in P6 (CH), the younger one in P2(HU).

P6? How's the PSLE preparations going? It's coming soon :scared: I can imagine how stressed we can get during this period! Do you think PHPS has effectively prepared your boy for this upcoming milestone?

I think PSLE should be ok. Very pressurised last year. This year more relaxed, less homework compared to last year. So unlike other schools which has supplementary lessons daily, PHPPS only twice a week.

#1 has been quite consistent in his performance since P1, so not very worried till I came to this forum and learnt of other avenues like the maths olympiad training classes. Though PHPPS has engaged a 3rd party (Hot House) to conduct Maths Olympiad Course, I think it is insufficient. If only I knew DSA favours Platinium/Gold holders, I would hv spent the money to get more training for the boy. But no point crying over spill milk now.

Rightly or wrongly, I've always felt that it is better for the child to make it to a good Secondary school by his/her own performance in the PSLE, and not have to rely on external boosters such as affiliation or DSA. Then again, that's me. As long as your boy works hard and do well in PSLE, nothing can stop him from getting what he wants!

Sadly there is sth called \"quota\". Many places are already reserved by this group of highly trained personnel πŸ˜›

We had the choice of sending him to ACS Pri then. After knowing the cutoff points for ACS(I) affiliation, we also did not know whether to bang our heads together. Then again, we are also would like the child to achieve \"great things\" on his own. I am not making much sense here hor.

Aiya, just let whatever would happen happen lah.

                      Congrats.

Maybe let you know PHPPS streams the pupils based on P1 year end results. Charity, Faith n Grace are the top 3 classes from P2 onwards. Depending on the CL teachers for the other classes (for P2 level, not too sure of other levels), the enrichment passages in the CL textbook are not covered in class. Also the top classes P2 level CL has mo xie (CL dictation).

WOW :!: sounds very stressful. especially since she don't speak mandarin at hm and still have slight 'ang mo' accent when she speaks. Already startg to look for formal chinese enrichment lesson for her....... πŸ™ that its not too late!

Btw, if the enrichment passages are not covered in class, does it mean that they have extra lesson?

                        Thks the info πŸ˜„
