For Shuqun, 179 applicants for 168 vacancies....so I think within 1km safe. Thank God! 😄

              dear all,

i went to JW on the 1st day of P1 phace 2c registration, here’s my little observation (might be at the wrong place on wrong time) :

              1) reception on parents for registration is a bit messy, some staff are really clueless ending late comers getting earlier que numbers so some parents are grumbling.

              2) teachers are friendly on general and are keen to answer questions.

              3) i dunno why but students look a bit messy in general (might be weather) and a bit rowsy.

              4) principle…ya some of you are right she does look clueless roaming around munching something in her mouth lolz.

              5) canteen hygiene so…so…

205 application for 82 vacancies… I don’t think I will be very disappointed if we don’t get a place (some parents will cry during balloting result every year as mentioned by 1 of the teacher), will seriously consider Juying (but the location is really inconvenient haizzz)

I have started my 1st PV duty at WG....but after reading some comments about WG here, now having 2nd thought about this. Things that I don't quite like about WG:

                1) seems too academic focus (like grouping based on ability - high, middle, low, can anyone verify if this is still so under the new principal? They are just kids why group them like this (if this grouping is still ongoing), it can be demoralising for those in the low ability. Not as if we are taking about getting promotions in work)

                2) pasting students results (seems true, as the PV duty I just completed was to be the invigilator of a mock test, and it was apparent based on the stuff paste on the front and back of the class, that WG is academic focus. Almost all tags pasted by the students expressed their wishes to score like 240 for PSLE. They even have a chart setting the target of how many students for straight As, how many for 240 points etc)

DH and I prefer DS to study in a less pressure environment, otherwise he could develop a fear/dislike of studying, which could affect his interest in studying in the long run (sikeli next time go comitt suicide  ).

Just want to hear more views on WG. Meanwhile, I will still continue to do PV at WG, but now it is more for observing the school and not to let DS enrol in it.

Also, how about Juying and Corporation primary school? How are they really like?

Lastly, for Rulang....I decided to drop out of their PV program immediately, after they requested me to write a \"report style\" document on how my contribution will meet their core values, strategic thrusts :!: Piang!! Only do PV still wanna request this and that (if they are part of the Ivy League, I will finish that \"report\" fast and might even laminate it )!! I can forsee what they \"really want\" for their students  So don't wanna stress myself or DS.

I have registered for jw. within 1km and keeping my fingers crossed. my priority is nearest distance to my mum’s place, so is only jw or west grove (which is further).

2nd choice, either xingnan, pioneer or juying. but all beyond 1km. i know juying shdn’t be a prob, looking at its historical trends, but it is single session, so the kids need to wake up very early for all 6 years! wonder if xingnan or pioneer will need to ballot for ph 2c suppl.

                    Hi,
Just to share a little - hope it helps

My gal is currently studying P1 with Corporation Primary. I am also one of those parents who went thru the balloting in 2008 Ph 2C in West Grove Primary (but no Luck 😢 ) and later on enrolled my gal with Corporation Primary under Ph 2C Supplementary. So far, I would say that my gal enjoys the school alot - as it is a single session school so she has more times in the afternoon for a short nap and thereafter to do her homework. Basically she has homeworks almost everyday but it is manageable type - like a few worksheets or a few pages from the workbook.

As for the School's standard, I can't contribute much cos I am a full-time working mum and did not really \"social' alot with the school teachers. I only met her form teacher once that was during the Teacher-Parents Meet in May.

                    Hope the above helps. Thanks.

MOE require school to convert to single session by 2015, most, if not all of the school will complete the change b4 the deadline

                        Thanks for reminding, FMz. 😎

Yes, they have to get up early sooner or later.
Was hoping to get a school within short walking distance…
Is Juying better than Xingnan and Pioneer?
Shd I just go for Juying in Ph 2C suppl, if I really need to go for that phase… sigh.
