Hi need some advice here. My dd is currently taking advance shooting cse in the sports school. They are setting up a new shooting academy and invited my dd to DSA. I’m worried about her future if she did not shine in either the sports or her O level. But she likes the shooting very much and has no confidence to get into RGS to join their shooting CCA. What should I do?

Initially we thought about taking the ACSI Hast on the 8/7/2011 but changed our mind in the end.

Or else they would be a clash of timing.

Why did you choose RI & not ACSI? ACSI only have Hast test right? No interview right? My DS is also planning for RI & ACSI DSA next yr, if he got < 80%, he might have to choose one. Hope that next yr's timing will not clash. Good luck to your DS!

Well my DS is not keen on ACSi.
We also have some reservation about the elite and super rich backgrounds of students there.

Can I ask parents whose kids applied for NJC, how long do you have to wait for the email on the test detail after sending them the cheque by post ?

Very long....sent early Jun no reply todate yet.....and I too lazy to follow up. Maybe should call to ask them tomorrow.

If you happen to call, please please update in forum. Thanks

Hi I emailed them last night and they just replied that they have received my cheque. So I'm relieved.
Just waiting for the email on the test detail, not calling them anymore.

I will suggest for her to try out at the DSA, since she is being invited. She must have shown her potential in shooting and there is no harm to try it out and decide later. If she can make it to national level, shooting might be a good career as well, as it seems that age will not be such an issue as compare to other sports . Did she try out the DSA at RGS as well?

Yeah they should at least sent payment acknowledgement reply. Parents who never receive a reply by today will feel uneasy as it's the last day for payment to reach them.

Yes, yes, I knew some GEPers who scored >90% for SA1 and confirm going to RI and yet apply DSA for HCI, ACSI and NUSH.
                    >90%!! Future PSLE Top Scorer. πŸ™‚

How serious is your dd about shooting and is she sure that she wants to pursue it for the next 4-6 years? If she is, then perhaps she could try out for the Sports School. I don't know how strong SSS is academically, but they do offer IB as well don't they?

If she just intends to pursue shooting as a CCA and represent the school, then maybe a mainstream school may be better. There are several other schools which offer DSA through Shooting. You might want to try out for these as well although applications may have closed already.

But good for the ego and self esteem mah. Some see it as trophy for collection...never one too many! πŸ˜„ Someday they can tell others....been there, done that!
