For Phase 1 and Phase 2, there's no quota, so in theory, the only limit is the number of vacancies. For example last year for CHS, at the end of phase2, there were only 18 vacancies left for P2B and P2C. So each phase had 9 vacancies.

CHS is crazy popular, plus it's affiliated from sec to jc level

Aiyo…why so stressful. Its like seeing stock increase in prices…investor see the number goes up and up very happy but for this, parents see the number up and up not happy…

That is correct.

Grossly unfair isn't it, but I had commented in a different thread on this and basically got brushed off.

Phase 1 is for siblings - I think it is fair to say parents wants kids in same school for convenience of picking up, etc. No reason why there should be a limit to this.

Phase 2A is for school advisory board member, staff and alumni - These group is seen to have contributed to the school, thus the priority accorded. It will mainly affect the \"older\" schools who have huge following of alumni.

Singapore has more than enough schools to cater to all school going kids. It is just which school that the parents want for their kids. If you insist in going after the very popular schools, then of course the competition is keen and you need to put in the effort to work out your plan and strategy.

Sometimes, popular schools may not be the best / suit the kids. I've seen so many cases whereby friends regretted their decision to place kids in those schools.

There are cases whereby there's some vacancies from P2B and balloting in P2C [/quote]yes, at least my dd school is one of them... the reason is they can control the PV intake for P2B but they can't control the number of applicants in P2C.....

usually those super hot schools like CHS will have high number of applicants in P1, P2A1/2 (all silbings and parents related to the sch) and low in P2B and P2C (only within 1km stands a chance)...

Today I went to NCP, I saw some of the parents still came to register under phase 1 at around 12.25pm.

Interesting..

For us, we were given a form before Phase 1. We've to indicate if we intend to register or if we've a child who is eligible to register however we are not registering.

Once we indicate our intention to register, the school actually distributed the application form and we had to submit before school hols.
