Bigsnoopy - If you get the robots then just hire a part-time maid to help with ironing and toilet washing.

I used to have a part-time maid for about 4-5 months when I stopped hiring Philippino maids and was looking for a Burmese one. But this time round I don't quite have the time to be home for 4 hours twice a week at each go for the maid to finish cleaning 'cos both kids are in Pri school with different hours for at least 3 days in a week. So I went with the robots instead.

My DH is a lazy pig too. But he prefers no maid to having a maid after all the headaches we've had. So he'll just have to help. No Choice!
Are the part times maid local or philipinoes? Do you have to be home? I heard of some cleaning company that holds the key and come in to do the cleaning. Wonder if it is safe.

The one I had previously was philippino. Never tried giving my keys to any cleaners before. Just don’t feel safe 'cos don’t know who will have excess to it. I was always home when the part-time maid was here. Better be safe then sorry.

I didn’t go for it this time round as I couldn’t commit the time to stay home and wait for the cleaning to be done now that both kids are in pri school and needs to be picked up at different timings.

yanyan, Good that ur maid is settling down.. I do make some small talk with my mynmar and being young she tends to get carried away and sometimes go on rambling about Mynmar, I do take this opportunity to find out more about her life style, family and friends.... good to get some info about them.

I will draw the line when she gets too friendly or she will forgt the employer/employee relationship. Sometimes I will cut her off half way or she might go overboard.
As urs is fresh and young u can groom her the way u want her to be, just hope no outside influence 😄

Yes.. I think she kind of settling down.. & i realise she doesnt like to watch tv.. Whenever rest periods she rather go bk to her room & rest & read her dictionary.. Which is gd for us.. U r right.. Being young, she kind of adapt to us quickly.. I also set eg to her like when i ask her to do tings, i say thank you.. And i also do some of the chores which in a way show her tat i can do without her.. So far for a wk, she is still ok.. Hopefully she stays this way.. :please:

YanYan … Yes do hope she will keep up the good work, one good sign is shes intersted in picking up english, shows she wanna work here. Well dont pamper her too much yet or she will expct u to do the same in future, I learnt my lessson giving my past maids clothes and gifts, they dont appreciate and think Its their entitlement. Sometimes I wanna give my maid a spare bag etc, but hold back cos I might regret later.

@ yanyan you must check the tablecloth that she use to wipe the dining table. Mine didn’t use detergent to wash the tablecloth everytime after use and my table end up with more oil after cleaning. Alamak!
