          Hi,

My DS wants to change his CCA. Anyone’s DS in SJAB (St John’s)? Need to know if its very time consuming and physically tiring.

          Thank you

SJAB is ok...but I am not sure if they still allow for change of CCA since SJAB passing out parade will be on 15 July.

Yes they will most probably allow, if there is a valid reason for your DS to change CCA 🙂

The cutoff for those that take O level is already 3 points. It must be damn difficult to get in through DSA.

How many vacancies are allocated to JC DSA every year? How is the past record of acceptance cases? What are their criteria?

20% of their intake, which is about 50 places since they take in 200-250 O level students each year.

                      Hi parents,

My son is in Sec 3. During this June holidays, I wonder if your Sec 3 boys have been doing any Ace projects? I asked my son to make use of the school holidays to do his Term 3 Ace. But he said he can only start when school reopens as he is not in a position to do so now.

Can someone clarify the position. I have a sneaky feeling he is just brushing me off so he can play his computer games this hols...but I am worried once school starts, he will be too busy with school work, tests, cca etc.

                      Hi godiva,

I think next term compulsory ACE is English. Most of the time, teachers will assign work for English and Chinese ACE. So he is not \"wrong\" if he said he can't do now. He is probably waiting for teachers to assign them. But if he has chosen other subjects (which he shd have at least one other), then should be able to do this hol.

My DS has spent almost every weekday (half day) in school this holiday, working on his projects day project. Everyday working on experiments in the lab 😞

                      Thank you lizawa,

My son has also spent some time on projects day project these hols, but not as busy as your DS.

                        Hi Otah,

DS is in air pistol. Ya, since this term all HW n Ace projects are done on the computer. I have not seen any paper works this term. When his classmates came over to do projects, all of them were working on their own computer :scratchhead: .
DS live, eat n sleep n:imconstipated: with the computer these days. His facebook is on almost 24Hrs  When ask, he will give excuses like asking classmates abt HW or checking for something :frustrated:
                        Hi mum42,

Your DS computer habits sound similar to my DS - ie my DS is always on computer during waking hours except when eating and sxxxting. He gives similar excuses to what your DS gives when I ask him.

Does your DS bring the laptop to school everyday? mine does. I wonder if it is necessary for him to do so? OR does he bring to school for games.

What time does your DS use the computer everynite? during school nites as well as fri and sat during school term? Mine use til 12 midnite on school nites because I set the rules and 1 am on fri and sat. But he is unhappy with the 1 am cut off time on fri and sat as he feels other frens get to use till 3/4 am?We are having constant arguments on this.

As one parent said it is ok if his grades are ok. But DS grades (SEC 3) are MSG 4 plus in Term 1 and 3.8 in Term 2. So that is below average.

My DS is also getting very bad tempered nowadays when we ask him to stop using the laptop. Very rude and foul words are used. I am worried he is going out of control. OR am I overworried and ks as this is the usual behavior of a 15 yr old son? If not, any advice?
