I’m a SAHM and enjoying it…well, maybe there are lows of course but used to it after 11 years.

It’s stressful facing the kids after school…with all their yakking, noise, quarrels and refusal to cooperate to get homework done. Both of them are in morning session. Hubby sends daughter (P1) to school and then goes to work…I walk my P5 son to school and then enjoy 6 hours of peace b4 they return home.

:welcome: to the club, MummyThreeStreams! I know how you feel. I am definitely happier now than when I was working full-time. Being a 24/7 SAHM is no mean feat. The stress is no less than a full-time job, but at least there is no office politics. 😄

Like you, some relatives also feel my degree has gone to waste. But I know best. I know what will make me most happy, and that is nurturing my DD and marking her development milestones.

You are lucky. You have a good boss. No wonder you are torn between work and family. Just enjoy your kids full time now while you can, before you decide whether to go back to work later.

          MummyThreeStreams:
Hello! Haven't had time to read through all 94 pages yet. I guess I should join this club too. I have three sons. 6yrs, 3 yrs and 5 months. I have been drifting in and out of SAHM-hood since 2006. I am much happier focusing on my family. I used to be so miserable when I was a FTWM. working PT wasn't so bad though. DH earns enough to support our growing needs and he is very happy for me to stay home coz I am happier. Also, he doesn't think anyone else can do a better job at home than I can.

I sometimes wonder what if I had continued on my career path...I was doing very well and was expected to rise far. My pay would've doubled...I would have a fancy title with lots of staff under me...

I don't regret giving it up though, because I remember how miserable it felt to be always so torn between the two worlds, one of which I didn't even like very much! I always wanted to be home, but was always working instead. My boss was very kind. He told me to go take care of my family first. I could always resume my career later. After all, we can work till our 60s but our window of opportunity with the kids is so small. I appreciated that reminder.

It irks me, though, when I get people tell me that it is such a waste for me to stay home...DH says my children will benefit from my degrees! Although to be honest, I don't do very much academic stuff with my kids! I just love them and play with them (not even educational games). I think any mum, with or without degrees can do that!

My no pay leave will end next year. We'll decide our next course of action then. In the meantime, I'm enjoying my kids!

im gonna switch sch for my K1 boy. since im not working nw, i intend to mv him to a kindy near my plc. he attends a kindy near my parent's when i was working last time..he is still there in fact.

many have told me not to shift him since he is used to the sch and teachers in his current sch since preN. and nw only left 1yr mre to go b4 P1.

aw, i gg to visit the new sch next wk...wondering shd i bring my boy along?
I think better not bring your son along. It might cause confusion if you do not like the school.

I also changed kindy when my DD1 was in K1, I brought her to the new kindy when everything was settled. She's adaptable but even so had to explain to her why we changed the kindy. I talked to her about the new kindy and bring her to view the school when I was sure the school is what I want and before she attend the school.

If you do decide to change kindy, suggest to do it quickly because the child will need some time to get use to the new kindy.

My dd attended different kindy in K1 & K2. Switched due to logistic reason too. Okay le, not much problem adapting. Anyway P1 also new environment, consider that as more practice in adapting 😄

I'm so relieved my daughter is in the morning session (P1). Originally there was no space in school for P1s to be in morning. I was feeling so sian having to handle 1 in morn and another in afternoon session.
With both in morn session this year, I have some 'me' time in the morning :rahrah: and energy to coach them in their studies after school.
Those 2 years when my son was in afternoon session (P1/2) literally zapped my energy...mad rush to eat breakfast, revision, lunch followed by bath b4 going to school.
