phankao:
oh ya, forgot to mention that if express, probably just to ease discomfort, cannot express too much, then more milk will come in. thanks for reminder on this point, phankao.
Express means even more milk will be produced and exacerbates your \"engorgement\" problem. If it is not too painful, just leave it to adjust with your baby's demand. If really painful, try cabbage treatment.SAHM_TAN:
You don't express when your breast are engorged?
i tried cabbage for all 3, but i am not sure if it really works or it was just the warm shower and massage? does it really?
i read about the enzymes of the cabbage and all, is that true? i can't imagine how it actually works though?? -
Hi
The cabbage works for me! I used it for DS1. Engorgement was so bad that DS1 couldn’t latch on and I was in pain, so went to see Wong Boi Boi at TMC. She massaged for quite a while and sent me home with the cabbage tucked inside…was so embarrassed when walking to carpark cos looked so big up there. Anyway, after few days, & together with some pumping for baby, managed to overcome it. Also had engorgement for No.2, 3, & 4 but managed to get my babies to "pump" out to relieve it…they are the best "pumps" around. -

ya, it felt awkward, even though i did it all 3 times too. and it smelt bad and felt limp too, after being squashed in the bra, and mingled with perspiration and leaky milk, hor? -
ok mummies, 1 question i have and many diff answers given.
during confinement…bb zz with u so easier to nurse thru out the nite? or bb zz with CL, when wanna nurse then carry bb to u?
many of my frend’s CL told me is the latter. then so troublesome rite? but if bb zz with me then i oso not enough rest and CL mre rest than me.
hw? experienced mummies here can advice? my purpose of asking this bcos i wanna build up milk ss and seems like latching on is the best way. -
For me, all 3 slept with me till they were weaned off. It was more convenient for me.

Yup, 1st 2 months not enough sleep at night but during the day, when bb naps, I nap. During confinement month, my mom or mil will help me carry bb when he/ she is not nursing. So I get my rest then. I didn't engage CL, but if you do, then get her to take care of bb during the day when you rest?
After 1st few months, when bb is older, I don't have to really wake up to nurse, just subconsciously turn towards bb when she cries in the night, let her latch on, she will \"help herself\". I continue sleeping when she nurses. So not that tiring after 1st few months. -
Hi Terry,
This is my way after my bad experience with DD1. From DS and DD2, this is my SOP.
From 6am to 11pm I will let bb latch on demand. After 11pm - 6am, bb will be with CL. I do not have excess bm, so I do not express. When bb wake up between 11pm - 6am, bb will drink FM from bottle. Both DS and DD2 did not have nipple confusion.
During the time CL is with me, I will sleep in peace. When CL left, bb sleep with me and I will let bb latch on demand without bottle (when I was still working, DS has no problem going back on the bottle when I went back to work. But DD2 does not want the bottle. I was no longer working when DD2 was born, so it was not an issue that she does not want the bottle.)
At around 2mths after delivery, my bm supply stabilised. -
My kids were/are all exclusively breastfed too. My 4yo and 2yo are still on breastmilk. It's the best!! :celebrate:

A silly question.
My bust size belongs to A. So am wondering does bust size affect bm supply? Bigger the bust size more bm earlier? -
SAHM_TAN:
i read that bust size does not affect milk supply at all. rather it is demand. so if baby's demand is high, naturally the body will produce more milk.A silly question.

i'm also the small kind. :hi5: but so far enough for them. they were all very chubby babes, 6mth 9-10kg kind. but somehow, after introduction to solids, their absorption is not as good and with less bm they put on less weight.
so my kids all plateau at 6mths, for their weight gain. after that, from 6mth to 12mth, they'll on put on very little weight. 1yo still about 10kg+!
Everyone is now commenting how dd lost a lot of weight (she's 17mth now, and everyone's used to seeing her really chubby when she was younger).
And my ds1, at 8yo, is easily one of the thinnest in his class! argh... so seems like the only time they are chubby is when they were fully bf!
