I have to lay claim to the most underworked SAHM cos I can't cook and don't do housework. Guess that could be why I'm feeling quite bored. Not used to having so much free time after being hectic ftwm for so long.

Wah! :please: Can say don't do housework issit? Your husband so nice. But only applies to husbands who sees no mess.. hear no mess.. dun mind mess..

Hmm not that DH does the housework. It's my helper ;)
Lucky you. :celebrate:

Must be nice to be able to be a SAHM and yet retain the helper... to go about the mundane activities (chores), so you can plan stuff for yourself to do or spend all your time with the children. 😄 Aaaahhh... bliss. :please:

.....after wat u did for the family..

I can make a bestseller out of all the stuff i have done for the family but when it comes to family, we shouldn't be calculative right? Besides things are very very much better than we first began building up our own family. Life never was a bed of roses but at least after all these times... most of the thorns were able to be trimmed off. For that alone, i'm blessed... to be given a second chance which i went all the way out to fight for and promised to work towards. I'm thankful.

.....im alrdy a cannot make it sahm..very 'nuah' type. i oso dun dare to post what i do evday here..if my hb complain i oso nothg to say to defend myself.
You're very funny.. but i loike! 😉 I started out hating being SAHM cause it wasn't entirely a voluntary decision on my end initally, but i grew to love it. They say, life is what we make of it, isn't it? :hugs:

I didn't say it was easy or it didn't come across obstacles but it was worth it.
We gotta learn to appreciate ourselves too. Take things in positively and the same positive energy will and can resonate with those around us. :hugs:

            It takes the first step...

And then you'd be on your way..

Hi! New here and only read the last three pages of this thread... 🙂

So, buds, what's the first step?

Wanting it.. Wanting it badly enuff to go thru change. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php
            johmom:

My kids are both in primary school…although my house is not tip top condition but neat and clean enough since there isn’t any baby crawling around.

So relieved I’m not burdened by a maid. Those few years when I had one as daughter was a bb and son in P1…stressed out bcos of the maid. It’s much easier now…on days when I am in the mood, I’ll use the vacuum cleaner for the areas where irobot can’t reach.

oh, i believe her because this is happening to me too. been cooking for more than a year but it is very bad. sometimes have to throw the whole batch away and cook again. i can do good housekeeping, iron and wash well but cooking

observing a one minute of silence at the dining table is pretty common in my household.

Last time used to order Tingkat dinner but after a while got tired of it. The one we had was very oily and some days even sliced cucumber is considered a dish which I find unacceptable! So now it's back to cooking but I only have time to cook simple dishes. For example,

                  1) Chicken or beef pasta (buy sauce and add mixed veg, button mushrooms, meat). For variety, vary between spaghetti, vegeroni, linguine, elbows.
2)lotus root soup (just dump lotus roots, peanuts, pork ribs into slow cooker n cook for a few hours, then cook rice)

3)hainanese chicken rice (buy pre-prepared chicken rice paste from supermarket, add to rice, chicken wings or drumsticks, mixed vegetables in a casserole and microwave)

4)fried rice (stir-fry mixed veg, oelete, chicken)

5)pineapple fried rice (buy pre-prepared paste and fry with rice, pineapple cubes, mixed veg, chicken. Add raisins n cashew nuts before serving.

6)Bak Kut Teh (buy the Bak Kut Teh satchets n cook with pork ribs or chicken wings n garlic)

                  Just to share...
Hey I have the same menu as u except dish 5

Me too. Tingkat for quite a while but food unhealthy by my definition, besides 'cheap' dishes, it's usually oily, salty and I've doubts on hygenie as well, preparation process surely won't be as clean as I would like. I'm very fussy one so end up with more job :stupid:
having helper is half the battle won... household chores
.

indeed, the helper is the most cham cos she is caught in between mil n fil, mil and me... she is the middle ground between mil n me too, so in the end, not much direct conflict betw me n mil. it's more like mil tell helper to tell me i shouldn't do this or that, then i'll tell helper but this way more hygienic or whatever, then helper convey msg back to mil n she'll kena scolded, mil doesn't scold me directly in that sense. poor helper...

furthermore at that time i was working full time, so the one who stays at home whole day with mil is the helper.
Nothing beats one's own place regardless how small or no matter how big.. Important thing is one's own. While having own place should have been priority once married, there were too many hurdles to cross to get to the part. But fast forward 10 years.. it's finally mine. Things have never been better. And so i learn... and so i improve myself... and in doing so, i'm much happier. While moving on means more than meets the eye... i'd take it one step at a time hoping 10 years more down the road will see sweeter fruits to the years of perseverance. :xedfingers:

yup yup! sweeter as the years go by!
