Oh.....u mean appealing for RGS has started even b4 S1 posting of results ??

Never try. but I've heard if the PSLE T-Score is above 270, there would be no problem.
I have a daughter who is currently studying in RGS now. Based on my friend's daughter's appeal to RGS this year, I would like to make a comment here. My friend's daughter had always been one of the top pupils in her primary school, which is a neighbourhood school. However, to their surprise, their daughter had only got a score of 259, approximately 15 marks away from the top scorer in her school. She did not even get herself into the top ten positions. Since RGS's cut-off point was 260, she decided to give it a try and put RGS as her first choice. She woke up early, excited and eager to know what school she had been posted to, but once again, there was disappointment. She had been posted to NJC, which was her third choice. Thus, they decided to make an appeal to RGS. And yes, the appeal was successful! She did not really have any talent or otherwise not yet discovered. Basically, this shows that appealing into RGS does not necessarily mean that a T-score of 270 can ensure that you would get into RGS smoothly or safely. However, they look at your past year results, which also means how well you can learn. I also have friends' daughters who have got into RGS through DSA although they were in neighbourhood schools. RGS is also a place where they would want to help discover their girls' talents and abilities. But MOST IMPORTANTLY(just highlighting), they would like to ensure that girls have a fun-filled experience in RGS and shape characters. Girls in RGS do enjoy their school life with their friends. Also, through their CCA interviews, we can see that each CCA accepts students based on their passion towards the CCA. My girl was in chinese orchestra in her primary school days and thus she decided to go for RGS's chinese orchestra CCA trials. Her friends who were not musically inclined got into chinese orchestra. They did not accept her although she had far more experience than her friends who have not even touched an instrument in their life. Despite of this, they were all happy for each other and hoped for the best for one another. I am glad that my girl has entered RGS and I hope that you will be able to see what RGS really has to offer.[/quote]
        Hi Flipflops,

my dd appealed into rgs and was successful. They require u to write an essay about ur achievements that u are proud of but NOT academic achievements. That’s the personal statement. Then, fill in some forms and hand it in to rgs. They will inform u of the results via phone call. yup.

Sorry, but getting in to sec schools is only based on merit & ability. If a china student come to sg to study, it is most probably that she needs to go 2 levels down. hope this helps.

they usually go one level down but they work really hard and top the cohort in 6 months

sometime back the top PSLE was also one year older due to EL ability, but she worked hard and topped the PSLE. she was from Qifa Pri School (if remember correctly)

That was in 2009. Think she came to Singapore in P3.

This poll was conducted in 2004. Things must have changed by now.
