Club 2005 Kids

Picolo:
Thanks! Nice meeting you too!
No worries.. I did not send my kids to any enrichment class either... to me before P1.. they are to play and enjoy... no stress..Castle House:
BTW my no 3 is also a 2005 kid, attending gor gors' school next year. Too bad it is still practising double session, very cumbersome for transport ...
All the posts about enrichments are making quite worried, as my boy is only attending music and Taekwondo lessons, and maybe going to re-start abacus trainings. Already have no time to send this youngest kiddo for anymore classes cos I'm too time-challenged with work and the older two...
I will still try not to stress them even after P1 onwards... but will monitor their developments..
btw.. welcome onboard..
I'm pretty sure that my 2005 boy can handle P1 & 2 quite well, but then, I can sense that the expectations of the schools on those born later, ie in 2005 compare with those in 2001 & 2002 like my older kids have gone higher. It's quite scary. :scared:
Agree.. the expectations and standard going up each year...
I wonder when come to my yr2009 bb.. what is going to happen.. :?:
which school are your kids in? -
Picolo:
:rotflmao: :rotflmao: otherwise you'll pay & pay but get no results hor...
:rotflmao: :rotflmao: you mummies are stressing me.. :scared:
Yes, I find that the more enrichment progs I send my kids, the more \"homework\" I have too :rotflmao: So that helps to control me as well :rotflmao:SAHM_TAN:

No worries. Actually, I'm lazy in nature and I've only started to send my P4 & P3 kids for classes this year. So, just for the ferrying I'm already feeling quite sick and overwhelmed. Imagine how much free time I get to play with the kids previously...but now, managing the family schedules is a challenge... I'll try to fit in Abacus soon for DS3 soon, but the daily practice... sigh, sianz! -

This is what I do.
1. I place my older kids in the same centres at approx. same timing.
2. I review their enrichment progs at intervals, if timing too tight, I will cancel the least important ones.
Most of all relax, it's easy to sign up too many enrichment/tuition progs for the kids, just need to review and decide what the kids need to have. It's like shopping, separate the need from the want items.
I know this is not easy but there's no need to be kancheong becos of our sharing. As each child is different, parents also have different reasons for sending their kids for such progs. Just focus on your child's need and everything will be fine.
Sorry to sound so preachy.
For me, I cun bear to stop any of her lessons...she is attached to the classes she wana go, though they got homework for her every week.
really wonder what to take dd out from next week...when she is in P1~~
Hello deardear
How many kids do you have? Anyway, you know it's 船到桥头自然直. Either she'll lose interest in some or there's change of teacher to lousy ones or ... well, you'll find out when she's in P1... -
Hi! I hv a 6yo DS too - in dilemma with school options and seeking your valuable advice…
My DS is a gifted child but has some social skill / behavioural challenges (strong independent thinking/reasoning) that will guarantee piss off "no-question ask/intolerant" teachers. We were told that he needed a compassionate school over a "academically-competitive" one and preferrably with smaller class size (~20 students to a teacher) to render him a positive emotional support. This is like reaching for the sky given our PS class size is 40! Do you know of any schools that are compassionate/patience and emphasize the holistic wellbeing of the children beyond the rat race of top rank/score? Doesn’t academic performance come naturally if children are learning in an encouraging environment? BTW, we are in P2C and willing to move as long as he is in the right school… Thanks!! -

:rotflmao: :rotflmao: you mummies are stressing me.. :scared:
Not stressing you, it's a fact. How fast the kids can learn and retain depends on how much time the mummy can commit, no joke esp for music, abacus and some competitive CCAs...
