Le Meridien one was Printemps :)[/quote]Oh you're right! I got my French stores mixed up.jtoh:

Or were they at the place where borders is in now ???? The blooding place. I recalled buying my prom dress from there.
I think they started off at Le Meridien, then close down, then shifted to where Borders was. Something like that. -
"there used to be a HK based dept store that was at Wheelock Place but closed down too"
it was Lane crawford with a pair of crescent shape escalators on the entrance facing far east shopping centre -
I recalled Galaries Lafayette was first at United Sq before moving to Liat towers.
Primtemps was at lemeridian hotel.
Isetan havelock moved to orchard.
Not sure if I’m correct, there was a Shui Hing department store which was supposedly from New York, which was located at current 7 storey Courts Orchard.
Really miss all these old stores. -

Guess Shui Hing is from HK, but styled after NY shopping experience.
I remember vaguely that it was very classy, but was in Spore only for a short while. Think it was in the 80’s. -

Anyone remember our local dept store chain Emporium Holdings with their Oriental and Plaza dept stores in the 80s?
-
Oh yes, Emporium. They were around for a long time.
-
They were the locally-owned dept stores in the heartland and I used to visit the ones at Ang Mo Kio Central.
