what is iSpark ?

Consortium System in Hwa Chong Institution
The Consortium system allows for a more student-centric approach to student development, with each consortium working and learning as a team for the differentiated needs and holistic development of the students. This system provides a fertile bed for many bottom-up initiatives, catering to the specific needs of their students. The team of teachers works very closely with the students, bonding them and bonding with them, and charting their intellectual and socio-emotional growth.

Within the consortium framework is a pool of outstanding students selected to be further stretched in their developmental capacity in terms of independence as well as leadership.

The entire school population is divided into 4 consortiums:

      Aphelion
      ProEd
      Ortus
      iSpark

The iSpark consortium houses the School-Based Gifted Education (SBGE) Programme.
Anyone with news from NUSH yet ?

I called the school, they said results will be out on 15 or 16 July.

          So late ?
Then it will be a mad rush to pay for the camp fee if selected.
Based on my DD last year, the successful candidates for the Camp will received an email on Fri afternoon till Saturday 3.00pm. Unsuccessful one will receive email much earlier. So no news is always good news.

You can paid online at NUSH website thru internet banking. You can monitor the entire DSA application (Test, Camp status till acceptance/ rejection etc ) online.

          😄

[quote=\"verykiasu2010I heard so. If GEPers did not get DSA offer and later got accepted via PSLE result, I am not sure if they could be detacted and be put in ispark.

the principal always maintained that GEPpers whether via DSA or S1 posting will be in iSpark
I believe all GEPpers are in iSpark, even those who got in via PSLE results later. And schools do know which students were GEPpers (even those who didn't do DSA).
If all GEPers are in iSparks then the number is quite small compare to RI

For Sec 1, total about 81 students only.I guess RI has about 170+ students.

hard to tell, only guesstimate :

50% of 450 vacancies are for DSA, = 225. Sports talent are normally via DSA...so that takes away 30 to 40 places ....balance 185 to 195 places are for GEP and mainstreamer .....and not all GEPpers get in via DSA, and they have 7 GEP classes, each class has about 4 to 5 mainstreamers, so number of GEPpers = 7 x 25 = 175 approximately ....If, and it is a BIG 'if', all GEPpers come in via DSA, then the balance for mainstreamers at DSA = 10 to 20 places ?

but anyway it is just an guesstimate and surely not all GEPpers get in via DSA

Looks like there are many \"giraffes\" (long-necked parents) in this thread..... :rotflmao: Stay cool parents! :imcool: The DSA process may be all the way till end Aug, long way more to go! 😉
