NMOS 2011 - Special Round Results

It's probably just a test they make the kids take at the end of their course. It's not a national olympiad so not important.


Is the class your son attending by selection or an enrichment? If it's by selection, then the test may have a consequence on whether he gets to continue with the training. If it's for enrichment, the test doesn't matter.

DS has attended Math Olym classes organise by sch. But it's conducted by external vendor for 1 semester. So I guess this is not consider as regular Math Olym Class right? In this case, unlikely there will be special class. My DS is quite demoralise when he saw the special round questions. He said it's very difficult.

same for my DS , the school has not informed them as well and i dont think they will be given any special round training . The school seems not active in providing such training but still produce few of the MO platinum/gold winner.

We managed to go thru the past year papers with DS last weekend , the 2nd round paper is tough , and Year 2010 is the toughest .
Anyway, we just let DS to expose , without setting high expectation for him . We already happy that he got in 2nd round since he has not received lot of special training except attended MO from school vendor for 1 term , same like yr DS .

Yes, we have completed 2007 to 2010 2nd round paper yesterday which bought from mathhub, but strange that the paper of 2006 is not available. We have to , otherwise not much spare time to revise as both myself and DH are working, and DS is always busy with school works.

After reading this, I also decided to get DS to go thru the 2nd round papers this week....hope to complete one a day

This is not an exam, it is a Maths Olympiad organized by NUS High for P5 students. Those that does well for 1st round will be invited to take part in the 2nd round.

Both DH & myself are working too. But Sunday happen to be Ds Bday, so brought him to USS. No time for practise. My Ds tried 2008 paper last night. He said it's much eaiser than 2010 paper. He's now hoping that 2011 paper will not be as tough as 2010.
