2011 P1 Registration Exercise for 2012 In-Take

Please also take note that school bus will not be able to fetch her to additional classes or CCA or any other activities in schoolwangyang86:
My daughter is eligible for phase 2B to School P which is far to my home (1hr by bus) and phase 2A2 to School Q near to home (10 mins by bus).School P is better to School Q, but I think near to school is most important. Is my decision correct ?
1 hour by bus is quite a long daily commute. Multiply this by 2 and it's 2 hours each day for your young dd. It can be tiring and she may not have the energy to do her homework etc. Remember as she gets older she'll have CCA and other classes so she may get home in the late afternoon leaving her with even less time to rest.
Is School P that much better than School Q? If not that significant, then go with the one nearer home.
Will there be any risk for balloting on your choice for School P (within 1-2km or outside 2km)?
My advice is School Q. Today is the last day of Phase 2A2.

:udaman:For those stuck with Phase 2B or 2C, we have compiled the interim results for the 2011 registration into a single table to help you in making up your mind about the school you are targeting. It can be found here:

While my hubby and I get disappointed as we look at the statistics, my ds is grinning. He does not care if he is getting into any good and popular school. To him, no schooling is probably the best news. Maybe I should just adopt half of his attitude.

My advice is School Q. Today is the last day of Phase 2A2.
Reason being if School P is far from your house (>2km), it means even if you are in P2B, you may end up balloting / not even having a chance if there are more applicants within the 1km or 1-2km. You can monitor School P's # for P2B, and ultimately, if you really decide to take up School P, you can still give up place in School Q to do so. This is a typical KS attitude, but better to have a bird at hand, then to suddenly realise both has flown away!
For young kids, better to be nearer house than further away as travelling time can really be taxing on them. -

It is the parents who are concerned about which school. To the kids, it make no difference! Don't worry too much, this P1 registration situation is not within your control. Cross the bridge when you reach there - make the most informed and preferred choice by then. Good luck! -

That's why they are called \"popular schools\", right?

Always been the case. Just hope for the best.
