If you ask me, I won’t give her condensed milk or chocolates. I give my maid those cordial drinks (the 2 litre giant brand) every 3 to 4 months if her performance is good. I have separated area in the fridge to put the maid’s food.

Have you ever heard of someone using a thermos to put detergent?

Sometime ago I asked maid to find the two pretty pink thermos. They were Thermos brand and very new still. We bought it specially to take our daughter's porridge out.

After finding one, I told maid to wash it and stow away. Next thing I know, she has used it to contain detergent for washing kichen toilet. When pressed for answer she told my DH she found it in the toilet in the 1st place. Really made me flip.

When I questioned her she just looked at me blank and murmured something incomprehensible. I just couldn't understand what made her do this. We have other thermos flasks and she fully well understands we use thermos. Or does she?

Now we have to buy another one. The other one cannot be found according to her. :stompfeet:

urs is really too much. Can deduct her salary or not? My maid also use my 6 big rolls of paper towel (for fried food) for her own cooking. I ask her when she is in her village, did she use paper towel and she shook her head. So I ask her y she use now? Just because it's not your money and you can waste the paper towel, luckily she kept quite.

Imagine sending children to spore, still growing and with big appetites! Think u better be very firm with this kid. Tell her u will let her off this time for not asking and u dont share yr jam with her n she can hv it all. Since she like condense milk or sweetener get her one tin (cheaper than jam). Telllher to ration herself to a month or she has t buy the next one herself.

You are spoiling her, sometimes u need to say no to her even tho u dont mind giving her chocolates. Shes gonna expect y to say yes in future when she ask for anything, its not so much the amount we pay but u dont want her to show unhappiness and take u for granted in future when she does not get what she wants frm u. Dont forget shes sweet 16 and burmese, still have a long way to go. 😄

Yanyan, You'll just have to be firm and tell her to buy her own if she finishes the monthly allocated qty. I noticed that my Burmese maids compared to the Filippinos do not know their limits when it comes to eating.

I gave excess to free flow and it went way overboard. I remembered them grabing biscuits and stuff from shelves last minute when I was paying up at the supermarket just dumping them into my basket expecting me to buy it. When I told her to use her own money.....suddenly, there were a lot of things she didn't need to use or eat and everything lasted a much longer time. Why? Because they don't want to spend their own $$$.

It's not that we are stingy or are bad employers. They just abuse our charity. Just give your maid what she would need for 1 month's supply and put a stop to anything extra. If she runs out of the jam, she'll just have to eat it PLAIN or buy it herself!

I find this is not by nationality. My first Indo maid was very sparing in everything she does (doesn’t want to eat much, etc). 2nd one (Indo) was very liberal when it came to my money - big tube of toothpaste can finish in 2 weeks (when me and hubby take 2 months for the same size tube). But when I told her to buy her own, suddenly toiletries could last a long time.

Current (myan) maid is ok. Food dun disappear fast, toiletries also reasonable.

I thought we are suppose to pay for the maid’s maintenance like shampoo, soap and even SP. Right?

Yes.. From mom is we have to provide toiletries but my fren tt day was saying SP is not part of toiletries & her maid bought her own. For me, i provide and of coz i dun let her choose brand..
I usu dun let her tag along when i go supermarket, so i buy wat she use wat lo..

Yes we should provide, but not if she’s eating toothpaste on the sly. I told her that to scare her actually, and it worked.

Try finish the big tube of darlie in 1 week - one person use only.
