Last time with my first maid, I used to be a nice employer providing everything. Now after my fifth one, no more Ms Nice gal. She paid for all other things. I only provide the maintainance and basic food.

Wat about things like phone card, envelopes n stamps?

Cards, Envelopes and stamps are not expensive so I used to pay for them. Doesn't matter how often (anyway they don't like to write). But my last maid (a Burmese) made me think twice. When I gave her a Christmas card to send home, she asked for 2 more and demanded that it has to be those BIG cards. So I took her to buy them and she didn't want it any more 'cos too expensive! :scared:

But phone cards I stopped giving after the 3rd maid. They just talk like no tomorrow and ask for more. My girlfriend forked out $400 for her Burmese maid's phone bills and in the end, the maid staged a runaway act just after she gave birth to her 2nd child. So ungrateful! :stompfeet:

wow. This is really ungrateful. :slapshead:

I too used to give 2 phone cards per month and yes my Indo maid never stopped talking on the phone. At first said need to talk to husband and daughter. In the end its more like all her friends and bf. Even on the phone while stir frying! No more.

Agreed! All my maids are social butterflies! Like to flirt with men (especially FT) and like to talk a lot (only to other maids).

True!!! My burmese maid even smiled at a group of Bangla men when she was out walking the dogs with us!

Think they are lonely in a foreign land. But still, we need to control them if not things will go haywire…

Are we suppose to supply shampoo, soap etc, I dnt remember reading this in my past contracts, as a matter of fact my last agent told me I need not supply as they hv been told to bring their own toiletries.

To date, i only provide them with soap etc if they come in without. I ask all my new maids whether they brought their toiletries and all seem to have their own.
They normally buy their own when they hv finished their shampoo etc…

My maid actually brought her own soap, some hair oil, SP & even a soap to wash her clothes. But i ask her to throw hers away & i provide her coz their soap gt 1 type of smell which me & my hb cant stand. So i rather she uses mine.

She also brought her toothbrush & toothpaste… Tat i allow her to use hers then thereafter i will provide her…

Haiz… Yesterday my maid told me the brother is going to come to Singapore to work in end July and she wants to go out to meet him. Currently she doesn’t have off day. What do you think I should do?

Last time my maid said that to me.. I told her she can meet only near my place for 2-3 hrs 🤷

She specifically told me she want to meet at a temple in toa payoh. :faint:
