      maisy:

And given that CHS is an all-boy's school with strong affiliation to the Sec school , most parents with boys would want to go CHS but it seems AT is also attracting quite a number of boys. So, it's quite a close fight.
I think many families have both sons and daughters. For most, easier to put into a mixed sch than having to go through P1 registration twice, esp if you live in Bishan area.

maybe i should add that there is usually a great disparity between the numbers registered on day 1 and day 2 of Phase 2B for popular schs.

Many are monitoring and \"placing their bets\" last minute.

All the best to all P2B parents !!!! :rahrah:

          Fur-ma:

I am feeling very confused. We are eligible to register for AT or KCPPS under 2B. If we fail to ballot successfully for AT, then confirm cannot get into KCPPS at 2C cos we are outside 2km. Then if we fail to get into AT at 2C, dd would probably end up in another school that is very inconvenient for us in terms of public transport. Although I intend to put her on the school bus, I need to anticipate days when I may need my maid to fetch her home if she is sick or she needs to go early / stays back for activities. I can put her on waiting list for transfer to AT but there is never any guarantee that she can be transferred (AT tells me that there are more than 200 on wait list for transfer).

The rational decision to make would be to register at KCPPS and forget AT. But I feel so so sad that I have to give it up after spending so much time and effort to get shhk's letter of recommendation. I am so jealous of my neighbour who is a SAHM and can fetch her kid if he ends up in a school further away in the event he fails to get into AT. There is less at stake for her than for us.

          What should I do ๐Ÿ˜ข

          :hugs: sure is a headache.

I think you should try for AT. you got the shhk recommendation letter which is hard to come by! You have 2 ballot slips at 2B. If that fails, you have another 2 ballot slips at 2C. (Erm, maybe monitor the numbers on the 2nd day of 2B la!)

If you talk about public tpt, fr sin ming to KCPPS is actually not so convenient. Either must change bus at interchange, or walk fr interchange to sch, or take a big bus loop.

It's a gamble. But if you never try, you'll be looking at AT longingly for the next 6 years.

But you if don't opt for AT, i can also give you some reasons to comfort you! Ha ha, i have many friends whose kids fr AT. The displeasure and complaints i hear fr them ....

I suppose displeasure and complaints are something that is happening in every schools and even workplace as well.

Zeemimi, thanks for your views. Itโ€™s true. I do feel that if I donโ€™t try, I will be looking longingly at AT for many many years. The problem is that if we donโ€™t ballot successfully, it will be a crash and burn result. Although KCPPS is not as near to us as the next nearest school (which is AMK Pri), it is more convenient in that we have direct buses from our bus stop and it is walking distance from Bishan MRT station so I can pick up my dd after work if I have to.

I was thinking of Marymount Convent at 2C if we fail for AT at 2B. But that is lagi more inconvi and also will have to stress even more when comes to registering my ds for P1. He is a 2007 kid (golden pig yr). 200% agree with you that living in Bishan where all the hot hot schools are is bad. And to think I never even thought of having children when dh and I got married and were house-hunting.

Do you know how they decide which students go the top 2 classes in Pri 1? Is there some pre-P1 assessment?

Fur-ma, I know how you feel now. I had gone through the same fears and anxiety years ago. You are at least of the luckiest to receive the SHHK recommendation letter. As for me, no letter given (no reason given) and that close my phase 2B chance. 2C was a nightmare and was ballot out. 2C(S) was my last hope and my greatest fear should this phase out- thrown again. Thanks God, heโ€™s in for 2c(S). Another good news after a few months, I got a call from ATS and my kid transfer appln was successful.

KCPPS and Marymount are good schools that produce national results as well. Weigh your chances and the risk % and I am sure all is not end yet.

Best of luck Fur-ma. Yes, getting that letter is not easy and you are really lucky to get it. If you choose to give up this chance to ballot, I am sure the other parents who are going to register next week will thank you as they have 1 less person to worry about ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for the emotional support. Really appreciate all the comments and views from the members here. This goes to show that for all the planning in the world (and I have spent a lot of my time and energy to plan), there is always an element of luck needed at the end of the day. I need to come to terms with the fact that I cannot control every outcome

Ha Ha. Agree. Can't help seeing the irony of the situation. Parents like me who have plan B and take the less risky route by going for plan B are increasing the chances of parents with no plan B.

Really? There's no way of telling then! So stressful, don't think I'll get any sleep til the end of next week when P2B results are out...

If it's any consolation to parents here aiming for ATS, I've decided to give up my place in P2A2 so there should be an extra place added to P2B ๐Ÿ˜‚
