I did PV during last year’s phase 2C registration at CVPS. On the 1st day, > 120 registered for phase 2C and balloting was conducted for <1km.

Actually.. I am don't know what's so good about Nan Chiau.

Does it churn out more top PSLE children, or have good programmes?
Or it has the long history of Chinese heritage that will be imparted to the children?

My wife requested for a visit but was turned down rudely. She didn't even get the opportunity to find out the name of that person talking.. :spank: (it may not be the teacher.. we won't know).
That left us a very bad taste how our kid will be if he gets in.
We stay within 1km of the school and we have shortlisted couple of others that are also within 1km.

Before making a final decision... can anyone advise what's the advantage/benefit of getting into NC?
Btw, I'm not putting down the school.. just curious about it.

I have a friend who works there. she did ask me to consider doing pv there. She said that the school has a strong financial backing from the clan so when it comes to money, enrichment classes, etc, the kids enjoy more support in this area. The teachers there really drill the kids v v hard esp for PSLE cos i heard that they have 2 prelim papers (last time lah, now dunno). it's strong in discipline too i think. and statistically, NC does produce high scorers in psle. acc to my friend, it's v chinese kind.

i guess it depends on what is your criteria when choosing schools. but i've decided that nan chiau is not for my son... you know your child best so u may decide based on what u gather is best for your child.

sigh heard this I feel even more sad. NC is what I wanted my son to go in , but we’re 1-2km from school and we fall in phase C totally no chance at all … And my falt will be ready only 2014 so totally no chance at all.

Just wonder why only NC is popular. Compassvale also produces top scorers in the PSLE too. According to their newsletter in yesterday’s Open House, last year’s top 3 scorers achieved 260 & above.

Precisely.. actually my wife is a PV at Compassvale, but we stay 1-2km away. We have to decide if we want to take up at P2B.. in 2 days' time.

NC is less than 1km, not sure if it is equal or better (other than the distance). However, this will be P2C, and chances are slim (I am always not good with lucky draws :slapshead: )

We are actually still debating whether to go for Compassvale or NC... or even Anchorgreen, also within 1km (a neighbor told me his girl in there very relak one)

We may end up screw up and lose everything if we don't go for Compassvale, but something in us tell us we should also consider NC :scratchhead:

Same here. We did PV too at Compassvale to avoid the 'lucky draw' at phase 2C, lol. Will be going down to register later. There are 40+ PVs so shouldn't have any phase 2B balloting.

Whatever is ur choice, best of luck to u 😉

U would hv considered what u want for ur child & what is suitable in terms of logistics, sch culture & environment, learning pace etc.

At this pt, not v much u can do except perhaps to register at Compassvale 2B then wait & c vacancy of NC's 2C to evalute ur chances b4 deciding if worthwhile to switch. For the past 2 yrs, 1/3 kids had gotten their slots at 2C.

If i am staying within 1km of Nan Chiau and member of the Hokkien Clan, what is the percentage of my daughter securing a place at the school? Anybody still didn’t manage to get in though with the above advantages?

Did u manage to get the recommendation from Hokkein clain. If u have, u falls under phase 2b, <1km. So far, no balloting require.
