I am glad I found someone who thinksthe same way as me rgdg top schs. I wonder why many fail to see that the schs r top because they have all the gifted stdents.not becos they hv super teachers or curriculum. If we put all the gep classes into guangyang, gy will also be top sch. All the time n money that goes into getting priority status seems a bit wasteful when u realise the sch is not perfect.
My friend’s kid fr hpps. Avg student there as compared to gep kids. Went to neighbourhood sec sch co s psle not so great. But excellent o levels results n now in hci. And others fr nyps went tonot so good sec sch. Another drop out of jc.
So it’s ok not to get into popular pri sch. Don’t stress yourselves over this small milestone of your kid’s life. -
Hi Tulip. I know about you were in the same situation as me (read about it in this thread, somewhere in the first few pages. Was up reading late into the night. LOL. Like i said, this PR reg stress getting to my head).
Anyway, KCP is moving to the holding school at AMK St 22 which is just opposite my in-laws' place so for those 2 years, I can look forward to my MIL's yummy cooking

Yes... my P5 nephew who is in a top school that has GEP is average students and has his fair share of bad teachers.... My sil commented to me that she wasn't even sure who is his form teacher now at some point. Such problem exists in every school. So it's what we call a heng/ suay problem. Sometimes, kids might be allocated a FT who is going to give birth or a FT who just got pregnant and has pregnancy issues so she will be on MC frequently. We encountered that for our P4 last year in a SAP school. Their class was behind everyone else in the level as a result of that. But due to the enrichment classes that she did outside, I wasn't overly concerned. So this is the other side of the coin.I am glad I found someone who thinksthe same way as me rgdg top schs. I am glad my P4 got a old teacher while my P3 has a single teacher. Though unfortunately she is going to further her studies. Getting a male teacher is not too good too as he need to go for reservist!!!
So best bets are old teachers who are experienced and past production period.

Furma, if I were u, I will just go stake my claim on first day at ats. Rather let my registration affect other peoples decision than the other way round. Do u understand what I mean? :?

Ha..you're lucky in the sense that no logistics issue with either school you choose to register your child.Hi Tulip. Best of luck, and don't get too stress out ya. -
Honestly, I did not aspire to put my children in a top school. I just wanted what was most convenient given that I am a FTWM and cannot afford to drive my kids all over Spore. It is my "luck" that my neighbourhood school is AT and plus it’s co-ed and given that I hav a boy and 2 girls, it made the most sense to work towards AT.
All said and done, I completely agree that being in a top school does not guarantee that a child will make it in life. My neighbour slogged away in grassroots and got her kids in AT. In the end, 1 went to AMK Sec and the other to IJ Toa Payoh Sec. I have heard that the weaker students in CHS are counselled to leave cos they cannot keep up. Can imagine the effect on the child’s self-esteem after that. May damage it for life. I don’t want to stress to get in and stress even more to stay in -
