I feel that it's really irresponsible for schools to accept PVs if there is a need to ballot even for <1km. What does it show? To show that the sch is very popular so the principal KPI and bonus will increase?

To me,that is so crappy, and it reflect badly on the principal's leadership.

They could just get more existing students' parents to chip in more help if they need so. Why exploit innocent parties who dun even get the chance to enroll in the sch??

I do not speak for all schools but in Tao Nan School, the school explained to all PV wannabes the duties involved and shown them the past years' registration stats. All parents that chose to stay & ballot and eventually contribute their 40hrs, did so with willingly and well informed.

In HPPS, they do the same and also you have to sign a letter of consent indicating that completing the PV Hours and being eligible does not guarantee you a place in the school. Only if you agree to the terms then you can start your PV.

So everybody KNOWs that being a PV does not guarantee a place.

All PVs should know this even BEFORE they PV in ANY schools that PV does not mean you have a guaranteed spot. Most responsible schools will limit the number of PVs so as to not waste anybody's time but there are freak years like this year where most schools reduce intake.

I predict most schools who are still on partial or full double session now will have to reduce intake by 1 class every year. Or else, I don't see how all schools can go single session by 2016.

I think if the school has explained clearly then it is up to parents to accept. šŸ˜‚

Parents should also do their homework ...and isn't this the main reason why we are all members of this fantastic kiasuparents! Thanks to the efficiency of Chief and the many contributors šŸ™‚ :thankyou:

                      Better to report it.

\"Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who have lost their Identity Card (IC) are required to report the loss and apply for a replacement in person within 14 days. ... you may execute a Statutory Declaration when you come to ICA to report the loss.\" http://www.ica.gov.sg/page.aspx?pageid=75

With the Stat Declaration, you should be able to use that to register for P1.
