The foreign students we are talking about in NUSH's case is those who flew in directly to take the selection test and camp .

They even make provision to these students that they can bring a dictionary to the first round test and they can appear in street clothes for the camp.

Just like to know is there any stat on how many are these students every year ?
Don't have the stats but during the matriculation at NUSH in Dec 2010, I recalled seeing only 2-3 kids in home clothes. DS is in NUSH Year 1, more than 30% of his classmates were not born in Singapore but all of them had their primary education here. Anyway, the number is not important, the crux of the matter is if these FTs are depriving our kids of a place and I believe the answer is no.

My DD went for Englsig domain test at RGS on 23/7, she told me groups are big and difficult to talk much. she said for poem appreciation, there were 18 of them so if you respond too slow, then you hv nothing to say because your ideas may be commented by girls who spoke up sooner...DD came home and told me she thinks she didnt do well for the poem appreciation section...now keeping my fingers crossed she did well in the other 2 sections πŸ˜“

        Hi Orange Juice
A few parents chatted after DD short break & this was what I heard :

A DD told that her grp was delayed in releasing for break maybe becos no one cld contribute very much in the poem & teacher had to wait very long for ppl to speak up.
Another DD said that her grp teacher had to stop one girl & told her that she was hogging the discussion.
My DD grp had 5 active ones during the poem discussion.

So dun worry too much as I am sure the other components can help ur DD. πŸ˜„

I was also told that probably by next week (1st week of Aug) shortlisted applicants will be informed for interview which will likely be held on 2nd week of August.
Btw, did ur DD DSA other schs too?
In the meantime, lets all cross our fingers together & hope for the best! πŸ™

Haiz, most of us are originally FTs, aren't we?

My DD RGS via science, there r 8 questions, 1. About y gorillas have more facial expression than orang utang. 2. a bottle of perfume in the center of d room, with

two person at each end, y one can smell it when bottle opened n the other can’t. 3. Y do athelatics train in the mountain? That’s wat she could remember out of all. Two experiments, not easy, she told me but I still could not understand so not able to explain it here. Her selection date was 9 July but her school mate went on 23 July said it’s the same questions n experiments.

More accurate assessment should be how many of these are paying school fees at foreigner rate, how many at PR rate and how many at local rate.

thanks for your very comforting message πŸ™‚

my DD also tried NYGH but her dream school is RGS and she badly wants to study there. Yes yes let's keep our fingers crossed and hope our DDs get into the final interview πŸ™‚ wishing our DDs good luck !

Just curious, I was reading some posts on the Science domain selection, wonder why the school used the same set of questions for different batch of girls taking the test on 2 different dates, would not that be unfair to the 1st batch as the questions may be leaked to the 2nd batch of girls who cld then find out answers to the secience questions asked ?

This year, the school has 140 Year 1 students. This means that the school can't even fill up their planned enrollment.
