Hi, wonder whether NCPS allows trolley bag for kids in p1. Heard tat school may allow if those kids are petite.

I feel that is better for kids to use the normal bag as they have to climb up the staircase to the hall. Though the trolley type bag can push down the handle and carry up but I find that it is still heavier than the normal bags.

I don't like trolley bag as you know when childrens pulls the bag, they just pull without knowing that other students are behind them and that it will accidentally make others or themselves fell down.(The trolley bags make peoples trip easily if not careful).Very dangerous.

I hope that schools will obselete sooner for this type of trolley bag, not suitable for young childrens.

Just an advise from what I observed. 😄

I almost forgot, want to ask those mummies whose child already in P1 this year, for pencils, are they supposed to use mechanical pencils or those pencils which we have to sharpen? a bit kiasu mum cos just want to get ready the stuff when my girl starts P1 next year

Using those pencils which we have to sharpen. 😄 Children at this age use to write harder thus mechanical pencil is totally out. 😂
During my chilhood days I used the mechanical pencil when I was around primary five or six. At that time it was first launched ,I remembered owing a mechanical pencils was like taking handphone first time, so happy. 🕺

ya children tend to write harder so more difficult to use mechanical pencils. I was told some school P1 have to use mechnanical pencils, cannot use pencils which need to sharpen so was wondering if Nan Chiau is one of them. At least now the tons of pencils i bought wholesale from overseas can be used for throughout P1. hehehheh

Ya me too, use to take care of my mechanical pencils cos back then they are considered high end luxury pencils. now throw on the floor no one will pick it up

Hi, I intend to arrange school bus from home to NCPS for my gal next year. Can anyone tell me the tel no. For the school bus provider?

Hi, you may get it here. http://www.ncps.moe.edu.sg/School_Vendor_info.html

Hi ectanz, on the orientation day, the vendor will be there for you to make arrangement with. They should tell you the fee as well depending on the boarding/alighting distance. Just remember to bring enough cash.

Talking abt Polaris Junior. The last show & tell was on the topic on how i spent my June holidays. DD1 was sharing with me, one of her classmate brought the orange Polaris T shirt and put it on the OHP!!!!

OMG! She must hv spent most of her hol in student care?
 for her but can't help :rotflmao: at her antics.

Poor girl... but I guess not all parents can take leave easily from work...

              Hi,

i want to ask currently my girl is learning Wushu at the cc and swimming , i understand for primary 1 ( or dunno which level) students ,they have swimming for nan chiau, can they be exempted if they have already learning swimming outside? Also next year when she goes P1, will she have to choose her CCA first?
Hi larkspur, from my understanding, the MOE Primary School Syllabus only require students to learn swimming at primary 3 level. My girl in Pri 1 this year does not have swimming class in school.

And CCA is not compulsory @this level, unless your child is interested in representing the school in future competition because some CCA choose school team members from children who joined since year 1.
E.g. to represent the school in badminton team, one has to be a member since Pri 1.

hi ellaemma, Thanks for the info. Then i guess i will let my girl continue her swimming until P3 cos i dun really like the idea of her learning swimming thru school considering she has to carry extra bag of toiletries and towel. Also she has already finished her stage 1 test and will be a waste to start from scratch. Maybe will check with school when she is in p3.

I see then no need to join lah cos a lot of pple keep telling me for nan chiau p1 must choose CCA liao if not until P3 or p4, you cannot join the cca and i dun intend to let my girl learn wushu until competitive level cos wushu is mainly to let her exercise and perspire.

                  Hi sc88

This is also my concern as a parent. Afraid this might hurt other children if my kid didn’t manage this bag properly. Already in a dilemma…worry tat my kid unable to carry her bag cos she is petite for her age.

Since she needs to climb up the staircase to the hall and consider tat the weight of the trolley bag, I might drop the thought of getting this for her.

                    hi,

also want to ask if we need to buy the books and uniforms on orientation day itself? or we can do e-ordering of book first?

ectanz, i have alos thought of getting a trolley bag as my girl requested that i get one for her in p1. A lot of my frens warn me the danger and also it might hurt my girl back cos if she has to climb stairs, they are not allowed to drag the bag. I will consider to get an ergonomic bag for her

I also dun like trolley bag and forbid my son using it. It's heavy, cumbersome and inflexible. Worst if raining. Long term use may also affect their arm structure as they always twist their arm when pulling it around. As said, if not careful, may end up with injury. However, NCPS does not forbid P1 students using it for now.
