Ellaemma, forgot to chk with u on whether u have any ideas of how long it takes for this orientation day? I need to find someone to look after my baby.
It was less than half a day.. in the morning starting at 8am. Last year's orientation fell on 22nd Nov..
When free, you may want to browse through some parents' postings last year...

Parents will hear P talk and watch performance. Children will go into their classes and brought to their classrooms for some \"assessments\". Last year, they were tested on Eng, Maths and Mother Tongue.ectanz:

Why start PV (if you get chosen) so early when it makes no difference?Hi,
I am new here. Hoping to enrol my son in NCP in 2017, haha. Understand its a super ks question. Is it true that we can only try for pv 2 years before p1 registration? Possible to start much earlier? -

Hi Timtim,
So what's the purpose of conducting this assessments? Is this assessment meant for their class allocation? -

If you are hokkien you can try the Shhk route to get into phase 2b, however, if you are staying > 1 km, then even u got into 2b by whichever way, chances of balloting are high, you may want to check the balloting history to assess this. -

The class already assigned. It should be stated in the Orientation Letter. The assessment is more to assess the ability of the students in the 3 subjects. The assessments are in the form of games and not written papers and from there, teachers will know their initial ability. NCPS's PSG organises holiday programmes and the weaker ones are encouraged (students will be given a letter after the assessment) to attend the 10 days Chinese or English programmes. There is no Maths programme however.timtim:

Oh yea. U may have better chance if happen no one having same skill set on that year. If fail this year, u can try next year. And early also can take longer time to complete or u may want to go for extra mile to do 100 hours? Got diff one.

My girl in P1 now is also very petite.. when I got her an ergonomic bag (medium sized) at start of p1, she looked like she will fall over. Everyone said the bag looks too big for her...Anyway, she has gotten used to it and no issues with it so far...larkspur:
hi,
also want to ask if we need to buy the books and uniforms on orientation day itself? or we can do e-ordering of book first?
ectanz, i have alos thought of getting a trolley bag as my girl requested that i get one for her in p1. A lot of my frens warn me the danger and also it might hurt my girl back cos if she has to climb stairs, they are not allowed to drag the bag. I will consider to get an ergonomic bag for her
Larkspur, I hv bought a trolley bag for my girl before when she was in k1. Ended, i was the one carried the bag when fetching her from school.
My in-laws worried tat my girl might hurt her back carrying heavy textbooks in normal type of bag when she is in p1 and would like us to consider a trolley bag.

Unless PV is your passion, then that's another matter altogether.
