Let there be good strong schools, all I am asking is a level playing field to enter those schools, not some antiquated aristocratic hereditary peerage system that grants an advantage by birth. I am not asking for meritocracy, I am asking for a level and just playing field.
DW and my primary school are gone and my 3 boys yet to attend primary school but i feel that P2A should remain as it somehow helps to preserve and enhance the school academic and or other successes (afterall gene plays a big part).
So for KS parent like me, tried various methods (P2B-PV/GRL/Clan) to get into school of choice plus enrichment classes plus condusive home envirorment...etc hoping to bring the best out of them in school. :grphug: -

There are very good schools like Nan Hua, Tao Nan, St Hilda's, Rosyth, Ai Tong, etc which are very near HDB flats what? Surely, you don't have to be rich to stay near these schools?
You don't have to go for Bukit Timah or any other rich man's areas. If you insist, then you need to pay the price for it. I think that is fairer and not so fake

Every parent knows that doing PV does not necessarily guarantee you a place. It only gives you a chance to ballot in phase 2B.

A safer bet would be to move within 1 km of the target school which is in a low population density area, ideally all bungalows .... -

It's just primary school, the journey is still long. If at this stage already cannot take it, then how to support the kids on this long and headache journey? Just relax lah. -

Sad to read about these parents, because I once was in that position. One chooses a school, sometimes years ahead with the belief that the kid will get into the school (no matter how aware they are that it is not guaranteed). The PVs work with the teachers, meet the children and get to know the school better … it’s difficult to accept that fact. I took 2 months to accept that myself.
For schools, knowing how it has been like the past few years should restrict # of PVs accepted. In that way, parents can only blame school for not accepting them as PV and not finding time wasted.
