your maid really dunno how to appreciate the good life she has. It's her lost, not yours. -

my loss is precious time... precious time spent looking for new maids... precious time training maids... and precious bonding time with my boy... as every night, i'll be rushing to wash his uniform and ironing them.. and packing his bag for sch... cleaning his toys of dust... simply no time to sit down with him n bond

-
SMH FOREST:
Sigh, can understand that. Hope u can find a good replacement real soon.tigger88..

With regards to this saga... i got a reply from MOM... the reply tells me nothing but just how MOM does not even understand how the employment of domestic helper happens:I called up MOM as I just didn't feel right... the officer suggested that i email them regarding this case. I suppose, the officer wants an official email so that they can do further checks (if any!)????
Anyway, MOM really can't help much in most matters. The officer told me:
1. For this discrepancy in agency issue, email them. What they will do or if they are going to do anything at all, I have no idea.
2. If I want advise on contractual stuff with employment agencies, call up AEAS
3. If I have dispute on loan and want assistance to get back loan, call CASE
Sigh...
Well, I was going to confirm on a Filipino thru another agency... that Fili will get her passport this week, and will need around 5-6 weeks to come. Then, got another bio from another agency that they have this new Fili who just came, but employer backed out as the old maid decided to stay. Interviewed etc and took her - and she is already here.. so process is very fast.
So yes... no replacement frm the original agent, and they had filed my maid under a different agency name w/o my knowledge... goes to show the system loophole isn't it? The name they market themselves in, have 9 demerit points as of now lor... SIGH...
1. I told them abt the failure of the english test, to which the officer said that this is currently under review.
2. I mentioned abt the bad quality of the maids, as even a maid who passes the english test could not understand english. Not even basic words. Guess what reply I got?
Quote: \"MOM also encourages employers to conduct a face-to-face interview before employing to ensure that the interviewed FDW matches your expectations.\"
Interview face to face?!?! :slapshead: :nunchuk: Has MOM LOST TOUCH with whats happening? New maids are not arranged to LEAVE THEIR COUNTRY unless the new employers SIGNS a contract with the employment agency to hire them! Even the phone interview doesnt help much, because as we all know.. a lot of times, the maids answers based on the agency's representative help who is beside them...
3. After my email abt the discrepancy, the officer again asks me whom I had signed the contract with... :slapshead: ok.. let me reply and state once again... HAIZ :stupid: -
tigger88:
Thanks tigger88!! hope someone good can come along... else, i may just give up already... sigh

I hate choosing new maids! The bio-datas and pictures soon form a blur to my eyes and I got a massive headache and stressed…one is either too skinny, or too fat, or look too fierce. Even those that look pleasant, well, their experience etc… you are not too sure if she would be the right one! Agent recommend one new maid but also wonder what’s her motive for "pushing" the maid to me!
Recently my 2nd maid (with us 10 months) told us her father passed away already hence she no need to go back anymore! She had wanted to go back to visit her father who was in and out of hospital but she did not know so serious. We were wondering how to let her go back since my own father was also in and out of hospital when we were told this. So quickly let her go back home to pay last visit! Before this, she was not even sure whether she would come back to work for us and my mother told us to be prepared to let her go and look for replacement. So the visit to the maid’s agency!
But this maid promised to come back so we waited for her for 2 weeks. She DID come back after all!
Well, the point is my first maid also when choosing I got massive headache, stressed and was indecisive and heavily pregnant so my husband chose for me. Turned out she is excellent and just renewed her contract with us after 4 years!
At the agency I spoke to 2 transfer maids. One look really dark and ugly (sorry!) but I don’t mind the look since she look quite meek. But got to reject since she cannot even converse with me in English. She was ex-Msia hence spoke Malay. The second one was Philippino and spoke with her about the job scope etc. and she look quite pleasant with twinkling eyes. Asked why she got transferred agent said employer specifically does not allow handphone but she hid one in her luggage from home so kerna sent back! When I said she should be OK I will speak to my mother, agent came back after that and told me the maid does not want to work for my mother! She said scared old ah ma will nag!
Anyway, since my 2nd maid came back, no need to look for new maid now! -

Hi, just need to check, my maid will be going back for home leave in Sept. I was checking with my agent and was told that since she has been on home leave before, her passport would have been stamped oredi so just buy her the air ticket and she can go back and then come back again without problems. KTKLN not withstanding.
Is this correct? Need to confirm so that I can get her air ticket. So far, I think the cheapest is via silkair to Surabaya. Departing early Sept and back early Oct, air fare is $563. Is that about right?
