I just joined today I'm also a single-child parent. Although my son is just 15 months, it's soooo not likely that I'll have another! Reasons?


I'm 41 this year, DH is a year older. We tried for baby for 10 years before giving IVF a shot. Went through an op to correct a blockage in my cervix, three rounds of IVF implantation, one miscarriage, pre-eclampsia during my pregnancy and an emergency C-section (because my organs were starting to fail due to the pre-eclampsia) to have my boy.

Still, I'm thankful! I only had to go through one round of IVF egg-induction (so many injections I lost count) and extraction--I know of another lady who had to go through more than one round (shudder!)--my boy is healthy and my C-section wound healed fast and well.

Now that I have one, my relatives are leaving me alone. However, I need to qualify that I didn't have my son to please anyone. Children are a blessing from God, and I just wanted my portion

Welcome to the club, Glorfindel. My 3-turning-4 DD is also our only child. Although I conceived her naturally, I can empathise with you the desire and determination to have your own child...It's not easy to be a mature mum, kudos to you! :salute:
