Opinions of the Primary School Registration System
-
My wife told me that her mother went to queue up at her primary school before day break in order to secure a place for her.
-
30 years ago, her mom on hindsight had wisdom, wish to let all her future offspring generation enjoy the fruit legacy and blessings ... for many more good years to come.
those of you clamoring to come in now with all sorts of reasons (excuses) but could not succeed so far, aren't you also having the same motive / objective eventually ?
search your own heart honestly! If you have the same motive, how can you blame those P2A(1) and P2A(2), who had raised the reputation of the school to such high standard, that it has turned into a hot, popular school today ? -
do you guys think this will work …
1) for people living within 1km, give priorities in accordance to the number of years the applicants (be it Citizens or PRs) have been living there (not in laws, not grandparents)
2) give priorities to families whose fathers (or mothers) who have served NS / Reservists (including Regulars) in accordance with the years of service (no pulling ranks here) … in this order perhaps (1) active Regulars (2) ex-Regulars & Reservists (3) active NS … or awaiting transition into Reservists…
now one would wonder why use this method 2 …
i) doing service to our’s country would in some ways show how sincere and serious one is to this country
ii) this would also address the issue of whether PR should do NS or not … if they do, they will further enhance their chances of an easier P1 registration when it comes time for them to put their own kids in schools
3) for PRs who wanna do PV to get into schools … while i also "respect" them for their kiasu-ism, can’t help but to think what of those of us who cannot afford 40 hours of PV ? on the hand, there’s also a saying if you really want it that bad, then you should do the impossible even …
but where in the case of PRs using religion as an advantage in Phase 2B … i think there should be a clause that says you have to have been a PR for 5 years or so (i dun have anything against our locals entering Phase 2B cos that’s long been the norm that most of us have accepted)
why ? cos we have a fair share of Pinoy PRs here too …
and they are almost all Catholics
how would you feel having to serve 40 hours of PV … compared to someone who just gotten his PR only months ago in time to be able to send their child into our schools under Phase 2B
hmm … perhaps this might also inspire some to convert to being Catholics hahaha

No, back then her time and my time, there's no need to queue. She can't and didn't even remember which school she went to to complete her PSLESorry to say , that long time ago your friend parents also queue up early for the primary one registrations. In olden days as what my mum told me was the earlier u go more chance of getting in. (Her parents did made an effort there queueing during her daughter - \" your friend\" times)
I find that it is your friend privilege as phase 2A1.

Maybe Chief can start an online petition here to gartner the support of all Singaporeans to moot to our Singapore government and MOE the need to have a \"Singapore First' pro-Singaporean policy for P1 registration. When the online petitions gartnered enough signatures (say 20,000), then we will post it or email it to Mr Heng or even the PM.any suggestion ... how to make the new Education Minister and MOE to come to KSP site here, read all the comments ?
and to activate something to the current situation, before it worsen ?
For us, the P1 registration is over, with our kids in the school of our choice, but if we don't proactively do something to prevent this situation from worsen, then we are not helping our children's children...or our future generations. Let's do something now, however small our efforts may seem to be.
Gone are the days when anti-government sentiments are a taboo, I believe all Singaporeans are educated and matured enough to know that it's OK to have alternate views and opinions from the government, who has promised that they will listen to us MORE during the GE 2011.
let's spread the word and do something for our young ones. :celebrate: -

Hey, this is absurd! Totally unheard of.......giving free work and labour, still must pay $$??Oppsgal:
After all we parents are already paying school fees. Pay school fees still do free work for school? Don't make sense, ya?
I wanted to continue volunteering in school but was told I have to pay a joining fee to continue as parent volunteer as my kids are already students in that school. I offered to work for free and yet I must pay to work for free

BTW, my son still laughs when he recalls me washing sweet potatoes to get him into the school
Hi Janet,
You are one very noble mummy! :salute:
Tell your boy that next time maybe he may need to wash AND peel sweet potatoes to get his kids into the school of his choice too....then he will appreciate what mummy had done for him many years back. -
