by the way, does the school allow trolley bags? what type of bags are u guys gg to buy for the kids?

i believe its better to wait for the timetable before buying trolley bags?i do certainly hope my daughter does not have so much books till she needed 1 trolley bag...

During my PV duty, I saw some kids bring trolley bags, so I assume they allow the trolley bags. However, we can confirm again during d orientation day on 12 Nov.

I have deuter and SPI ergonomics bags on my mind. I need to know 1st what kind of book dat my DS will bring to school next year, before I decide to buy.

          PTC usually once a year.

I wish d PTC is conducted twice a year.

i always get the feeling the teachers don't like to meet parents. For the last couple of years, only parents of kids requiring attention due to various reasons are called in for PTC. The rest are over phone / email. So they make it like, \"good if we don't want to see you cos that means your kid is ok. if we want to see you, means your kid is not ok.\"

That is so unlike last time when we as parents indicate if we want to see the teachers or not. Anyway, see the teachers, comments almost the same all the time. For mother tongue, teacher always says must speak more, read more.

But of course today we have email. It is much easier to contact the teachers. Don't have to wait until PTC. And some \"brave\" teachers give their HP numbers too.

There will probably be 1 book for English, 1 Maths text, 1 Chinese text every weekday. Somedays, got social studies, health ed, art, etc. Got workbooks and exercise books for EMS.

Our two kids are in KCPPS. Overall, we are quite happy with the school and the kids are happy too. We believe that each school has its own problems for e.g. the bookshop issue on PE attires which other schools face similar problems too. Kids are very very smart now and it can be very tough for teachers to handle them. Don't worry about PTC, you can always request to meet the teachers if you want to. Our last meeting with the teacher for our younger kid was a positive one. We shared with teacher our kid's character so that teacher can have a better understanding of the child. In return, teacher also guided us how we could help her to improve. It was a positive feedback from the teacher, informing us how much she has improved recently. You can also send an email to the teachers if need be but do give them time to reply as teachers are really very busy. We witness that ourselves, morning session teachers stay back until evening. The teachers also usually involved in other projects and activities too. We'd said that this is a well balance school. Not purely concentrating in academic, but also other areas. Perhaps, that is the reason why our kids enjoying going to this school πŸ™‚

                      hi all,

just to check (perhaps asked b4), I got a colleague whose son is in Nanyang Pri. They do have an individual website for the his class. In there, there is a chatbox where the students can interact with the teachers, and it is administered by the form teacher who puts in comments too. For example, during exams periods, the form teacher will remind them what to do/what subjects, what areas to focus. Even with orals, the teachers will post the order.

Does KCPPS has something like this?

It depends on the class form teacher, not all classes will have a class blog. I guess depends on whether the teacher is free to maintain the blog/website. When my daughter was in P1, her form teacher started a blog for the class, but stopped updating after a while.

Here are 2 examples of class blogs put up by the respective form teachers :
