        Hi Champion,

This 'Mastering' thing got me confused...just checked the cupboard and found 'Mastering Cloze' P6 and I also have Casco Cloze 6...in fact, I have been getting Casco Cloze all these years since it covers vocab, grammar and comprehension cloze. http://i51.tinypic.com/104hjps.jpg\">

          champion,

do you have Mastering Cloze? Which one better?
          Good day, Mummy Jedamum!
I have both the Mastering Cloze and the Cloze Practice 😄

          Mastering Cloze by EPH
          http://i51.tinypic.com/243lsfq.jpg\">
For Mastering Cloze, as you can see from the pictures (sorry the picture not very clear as my scanner is having minor defects 😉 ) - the content page shows each section begins with a set of guide notes (about 15-20 pages) followed by 5 sample exercises then 20 exercises.

My DD1 has completed the Grammar cloze, 3/4 way thru the Voca Cloze and the balance will be the Compre Cloze.

Cloze Practice Primary 3 by Marshall Cavendish
          http://i55.tinypic.com/2e3aluq.jpg\">
This book is also divided into the 3 main sections - Grmmar Cloze, Vocab Cloze and Compre Cloze. What I like about this book (personal opinion only) is that Each main section has different main word classes - e.g Grammar Cloze, it is divided into determiners, pronouns, prepositions and connectors. At the start of each unit, there are teaching pages explaining how each word class is used. Then follows by model passages which show how to select the correct wors to complete a cloze passage. At the end there will be ten revision exercises for child to practise.

Sorry, I am not too good in explanation but hope the above can serve as a reference for you.

            Hi Champion,

Looks like I’ve been too KS getting assessment books…son has more than sufficient till he completes P6. I’ll compare both Mastering Cloze and Cloze Practice before getting for my younger one. What I’m going for now is explanations to answers…think authors of assessment books are reading this thread and trying to meet parents’ needs.

              Champion,

which do you think is better or more challenging? Mastering Cloze or Cloze Practice?
              thanks.

                janet,
looking forward to your comparison. do compare with casco cloze and give us your best 'recommendation'. my boy failed/borderline cloze section in his SA1 and home practices. 😓

Somehow, MY DD1 able to manage the Grammar Cloze & Vocab cloze from Mastering Cloze on her own. I have not get her to work on the Cloze Practice. But if you ask my opinion, I will feel that the layout in Cloze Practice P3 is more \"eye-pleasing\" 😄 .

Just my own sharing; for reference only 😉

My DS just finished the Grammar & Vocab in the Mastering Cloze for P5. Not too difficult but the Comprehension Cloze will be a challenge for him.

My son doesn't have problems with grammar & vocab cloze but comprehension is a big problem...switched to P6 as I feel it's better for him to get used to the difficulty now than next year.
I think I'll go for the assessment which gives explanations. That should be Cloze Practice. Champion, does this page belong to Cloze Practice http://i53.tinypic.com/34q76et.jpg\">
