E3:
Moxie lists were given to top 4 classes during my dd's P2. It's 深广 list. I remembered reading some time back that all of this year's enbloc P2 classes were given moxie but started with simpler sentences, instead of paragraphs.
When my son was in P2, he didn't have any mo xie yet...only the kids in top 4 classes had. His moxie started only in P3 and I still keep them for my younger one because they are actually excerpts from CL compos.
Worth keeping

If >1 kid, then obviously can't dedicate as much time as compared to an only child, so one way is to outsource the teaching to enrichment centres, then revise/reinforce concepts learned back at home. That's my own opinion la..HOW DO PARENTS WITH MORE THAN 1 KID SURVIVE?

What about sean connery's grey hair? But the way, do you know that guys with grey hair don't grow bald prematurely.
Why mention Sean Connery lei? He's a charismatic man even as he ages. Don't tell me u look like him!
And so grey hair is better than no hair right? -

I neglected my younger one in the first 6 months of this year...now focus is on her and stopped nagging at older one...if he doesn't get homework done, too bad if teacher punishes him. It's time I hands-off with him because he is old enough to learn what responsibility is.

Other than Timothy Dalton, the other actors who played James Bond are great ESP Pierce Brosnan. -
I also feel that I have neglected ds2, so I try to work out a system with dh, we take turns to teach the kids... he is taking the chinese, while I will take the other subjects.. (my chinese also cmi  )
for ds2's simple reading exercises and flash cards i outsource to the ds1... so he will feel pressured to read more words than the brother  ds1 also outsources his sunday school coloring to ds2... a benefit of having more kids is that they can share their load...
I also outsource lead.com chinese stuff to my mom!!
plus I make them pitch in for housework... I always tell them that since I have to help them with their schoolwork, it's only fair that they help me with my housework  so far so good.. I still get to rest and have movie dates with dh

Younger one bullies daddy. So now I have to take over on weekday nights for spelling and tingxie. Saturday nights, he has to coach kids for Math. Hubby also taking Science and handle both when I have to hang up wet laundry when machine is done. I need to take a 15 min breather (time-out) when hanging clothes.I also feel that I have neglected ds2, so I try to work out a system with dh, we take turns to teach the kids... he is taking the chinese, while I will take the other subjects.. markfch, you can get your ds to try memorize the 2 longer sentences in their term3 tingxie list as an intro to moxie… we just implemented this for ds as he writes so slowly he cannot remembers what the teacher read for tingxie…

php:
for some reason my p2 son does not have very much homework. to him, studying moxie is the most time consuming homework. but my p4 son workload is much heavier even compared to p3.
Compare with P1, definitely more hw in P2, almost daily....markfch:
Not official in that sense but they do test informally. The FT did test the class by asking a qn - what is the most impt thing in PH? Answer it correctly and you gonna be teacher's pet forever. Too bad my ds didn't get it right so now he's not the teacher's pet (am I repeating myself? Signs of old age).
:siam:
Ok joking only, the real reason for this post is that I've a qn for the 过来人. Is P2 gonna be busier than in P1? For this term, I find that the load is almost double that of last semester. Does it plateau from 2nd half of P1 to P2, or is P2 gonna be worst? Does P2 do moxie? Hope not, that's gonna take a lot of time.
as to moxie, those in 深广班 will have to do both moxie and tingxie whereas the rest will only do tingxie...definitely yr ds will be in 深广班, so be prepared to memorise 20+ to 40 words.... -
Mrsbongz:
P2 spelling has 3 mystery words.
Hmm.. but if there isn't going to be streaming, I wonder how moxie will be implemented.. Is it 20+ to 40 words a week? once or twice weekly? I guess I better start preparing myself to work harder..php:

DS is still having prob staying awake in the evenings, I wonder how much more stuff I can squeeze into his mornings at the student care..
How about english? I know of schools which have started dictation for P1s? when is it implemented for PH? any other 'add-ons' for P2?
P4 spelling is quite crazy to me. the vocabulary they use is of adult standard, some of the words i even have to check dictionary. i remember coming across some of the words only in my upper sec.

Hi parents,
Hope you can advise. Is the English exam paper structure for P1/P2 always the same? I referred to Y2009 SA1 & SA2 and found the P1 papers structure the same as such:
Section A: Spelling
Section B: Sound Discrimination
Section
Picture Matching
Section
Vocab MCQ
Section E: Vacab Cloze
Section F: Grammar MCQ
Section G: Grammer Cloze
Section H: Sentence Arrangement
Section I: Comprehension MCQ
Section J: Comprehension OE
Will like to use this as a guide to revise English with ds since there are no textbook to go through.
TIA!
