      Hi Baong,

Frankly, kids are kids. At this age, I don’t think the kids "want" to be a bully but rather due to characters, some kids (esp boys) tend to be more rowdy/ rough than others. It’s not that they want to be a bully but rather they might not realise they are a bully.

Eg. My P1 son is fine in school but in the school bus, they tend to get very rowdy (again I can observe that this is due to 2 P2 boys in the bus who belong to the loud and rowdy type). Sometimes when they are having fun, they cannot weigh the implication of their actions eg. getting physical, etc… (not fighting but like "play fighting" and this pose as a problem when they accidentally hit one another). In the case of my son, I rec’d the feedback from another parent whom I happen to have contact that my son kicked his son’s groin while they were playing on the bus. To prevent that kind of issue once and for all, I stipulated that he MUST sit at the front together with the uncle (mini van). It worked and so far it has been peaceful. In fact, the other boys now think it’s so cool to sit infront with uncle but uncle stipulated that the seat is only for my son as I related to him what happened.

Sometimes out of fun, there are also "name calling" etc… My P2 girl had that last year even though the name she was called is quite innocent and nothing rude but it upsets my girl. We role play with them on how to handle it. So when a particular friend call her "name" again, she actually responded to that girl by saying, you are so lame and ignore her. The girl stopped doing that realising that it’s not fun as she is not getting a huge response from my girl. In such situation, if a child gets more upset, the other kids will find it more fun to "disturb" him. So if the child does not have much reaction, the kids will stop as it is boring.

To prepare the kids, try to role play different situation. Eg. if this thing happen, teach the kid how to react, etc… If all fails, speak to the teacher about it to help to keep a lookout. My son’s teacher is P1 manager and she is known to P1 and P2 to be very very fierce. But she is actually a very nice lady. But the kids generally behave well inorder not to make her angry.

        Hi MMM,

Thanks for your reply. I think role play is a very good idea. I'll observe what happen next year and act accordingly. Mayb I worry too much! But I am very excited for my boy who is starting P1 next year. I hope everything will go fine for my DS.. 😉

          For all 2010 MBS parents,

FYI, the uniform shop is at :

          Shirley season wear
          Blk 266 Serangoon Centre Drive
          #02-251
          S(550266)
          Tel : 6280 4917

They are usually open from 12-8pm except sat. They are close on sunday and it’s good to call before going down.

It’s good to go to the shop directly to get the uniform iso having to squeeze with other parents to try out the uniform on orientation day. For PE t-shirt, you will need to know the color of the t-shirt before buying.

Shirley season wear also makes name tag. I was typical kiasu mum, previously I got my P2 girl to make for my P1 going (can only be make by bookshop then) so that by the time school re-opens, his name tag is already ready unlike other kids.

There are no compulsory socks or school shoes for MBS unlike some schools. But note that Shirley also sell MBS school socks (not compulsory) but my kids are keen to get it as they find it cool as compared to normal white socks. Such socks though not compulsory are allowed in school.

            Hi MMM,

Are there any changes to the material and design of the uniform since the school change the vendor this year? Thinking of getting the PE shorts for my gal who is in P3 this year.

I wrote an email few weeks ago to Shirley Season Wear. At that time she did say the new uniforms are not ready.

My kids like the socks too given by the school during the Learning Week. Shirley Season Wear selling those too?

              Hi Jsmum,

I am so happy to see you on the group as you've a existing child in MBS so you can share more stuff with us

From what I saw, there are change to the following :
              * PE t shirts (I think different color on the collar to represent different group) The leaf is green now for everyone. The existing is different color leaf.
              * Boy's shirt (where they now have the bodhi leaf sew on the collar)
              * Boy's pants (longer like bermudas)
              * Girl's dress (with the bodhi leaf on the collar)

Materials of the PE t-shirt is better now. Meanwhile for girl's uniform, appear to be the same material. I am not too sure about the shorts though. Don't think there are changes. You might want to check with Shirley. I called her this afternoon and she said she has all the uniform now. In fact they sold the bodhi leaf wrongly so they had to rework.

I don't get to see the kids in their uniform and got a shock when I realised that my son has been gg to school in stained PE tshirt (due to art lesson), my maid tried to bleach it and even the name tag color came off :x Despite getting the new t shirt, she still let my son go to school in that t-shirt. I was upset.... told her that he is gg to school and not market. What would the public think of the school if they see my son in that uniform.

Would you be able to share about P3. Currently the kids go to the same class from P1 to P2 except CL class, what about P3? Are they being stream into different class? One mum was telling me that the maths paper she observed is one of the trickiest among the top schools. She was cautioning me to make sure that my kids' math std are good to cope.

Forgot to address this... Yes they sell the socks but just with the word \"Maha Bodhi School\" that's all. Same design as what they got during the national day. The kids were thrilled to see that at Shirley. I was tempted to get at that point but I stocked up alot of white socks when i went to Shanghai....

We are gg again this friday to collect name tag and get shirt for my boy so might be getting those socks.

My son is really problematic.... When we went to shirley, he was fatter then (2 weeks back only).... recently he lost some weight and guess what.... his pants is slipping off again that we can see his underwear. During my era we had a classmate who is like that and he is still remembered till today for \"underwear flashing\". My son told me that his pants slipped off when he did skipping during PE  I wished they had elastic pants for boys (like girls) but the folks at Shirley said that is no good and it won't last.

Haha...the underwear flashing is very familiar...it happen to my P2 boy too now

Thank you so much on the info abt the new uniforms. Glad to know the new PE tees are of better material. I bought 4 PE tees end last year because the material seems to look good for half a year, after that it looked very \"old\". My boy also have unremovable stains on his shirt after 1 art lesson last year..instead of bleaching or buying those expensive stain remover, I just bought another new shirt.

Do note the kids will be streamed to different classes in P3 with 40 kids in each class. You will get to know which class your kid is posted to when she brings back her report book after SA2. Think most schools in Spore will have 40 kids/class in P3 I think. As for CL class, my gal is still in the same CL class as last year.

P3 is a big transition from P2 (with additional Science now). My gal CL teacher did caution me that grades do slip (a lot) in P3 and P5. I guess it is the same with most schools too.

                    Hi,

Yes... the current materials suck... I was wondering if it is due to my maid's washing skill or the material is really bad. It looks very old and dowdy after a few washes. The new material is better BUT I still don't find it good eg. not like our polo t-shirt that last after many washes. Anyway, the lady advised againt bleaching. BTW, the issue with getting a new PE t-shirt is only the name tag.... Need to sew it.

Which class is ur P2 boy in? My girl is in 2B and she is in CL9 I think. I get mixed up with the CL number. Eg, my P1 just got posted to his CL class due H1N1 and he is in CL8, my girl was in CL7 last year so we can't tell which \"level\" he belongs now. I guess he is in the average class. He came back telling us that his CL teacher is very very fierce. We congratulated him and was happy that he gets all the fierce teachers this year  So that he will pay attn in class.

My P2 girl's result deterioriated in SA1 despite that this year we put aside time every evening for study. It was a big disappointment for us that I had to come to terms with 😢 I wonder how is she gg to catch up in SA2. I am \"leaving it to her\" for now and not gg to stress myself over it as I will probably end up stressing her in return. Probably she will perform \"better\" if we don't \"stress\" her? Haha still trying to trial and error. But it is definitely a concern.... Her english and chinese compo writing remains a big challenge and tend to pull down her scores.

Maybe I am too demanding. I always feel that as you move up the grade, it's more and more difficult to get good scores. So if at P1 and P2, you can't score then it will only become worse.

Hi, for us we got 3 sets of uniform and PE t-shirt (to cater for CCA, PE and school events). For boys, they wear the same pants for PE and with shirt.
