While I agree that it is truly to each his own when it comes to deciding to register a child at 2A although the family stays far away from the school, I really pity the child.


My nephew is in SJI Junior and he stays in Queenstown. That is not really far, maybe less than half hr by car. Hw he takes the school bus and is up in the bus about 11am and home at about 8pm+. This means that he has his breakfast cum lunch at 10am and dinner at 9pm. Although his mother gives him $ for a snack before school starts, he would rather play than eat (he is a kid after all). Is he in a better position being in a popular school? Yes for his brains maybe and surely not, for his health.

Mummyo, that’s why I take my hat off to you for doing the practical thing. I gave up a chance at an IJ school (my alma mater) for the same reason

Yes. For me the travelling would add up over the years, imagine is 6 years times 3 kids, can die of exhaustion on my part, even if my children are ok! :skeptical:

That's why I did PV, lucky it wasn't in vain, we got in all right. Really thank our lucky stars.

Btw, are you planning for your DS already or you plan to transfer your DD to a co-ed before DS is due for P1?

Hope to transfer to co-ed but in the meantime, have already applied for PV for 2013 registration. Yes my ds is 2007 Golden Pig boy. He is so skinny though that looks like like a skinny monkey than a pig

Being a mother of 4 active kids, i will not put my kids in a school too far from my place. But i will also try my best to put them in a 'better' sch. My eldest son is now in St andrew, so my 2nd boy has no problem for p1 registration next yr.
But My 2 girls I will have to give up the priority ( 2A) at IJ because of distance too. Hence, i m considering Marymount for them. I dont dare to think of Ai Tong because i have no time for Volunteer, and Its not 100% volunteer can guarantee a space. I have no guts to ballot.

To be honest, I had a good feeling when I was at Marymount registering my dd. Can see her in that environment. So it's a with a bit of guilt that I am putting her on the wait list for transfer to ATS or KCPPS. I am in a way sacrificing her for my son's sake as I am painfully aware that birth rates spiked for 2007 and also that it is getting harder each yr to get a child into a good school.

We will still be SHHK members come 2013 so we can play this \"game\" all over again by that time, i.e. apply for recommendation letter etc. Application for PV at KCPPS opens only next yr and Yes, I will apply there. Have applied for PV at ATS in case we want to forget about gg thru SHHK. Sian but what to do .. I did the crime (by taking a gamble with AT at 2B and now got to do the time :spank:
