Castle House:
:thankyou:
:congrats:Jas007:
balloting is not fun ...
DLS ... 89 ... i counted 30 PRs
my slip wasn't picked until 63 others ... by which time there were a lot of PRs already chosen in
there were 1 or 2 disappointed SG amongst the 7 \"unlucky\" ones ...
can't help but feel for them ...
no offence to PRs ...
but i still think 2 to 1 ballot slip isn't fair ...
all for now ... very relieved
Balloting is purely by luck.. if most of the PR got it.. they sure are lucky..as they are only given 1 slip..
All my SG friends got in..
I am happy for them.. -

My boy got in Unity, as well as all his friends :rahrah:
His name was called twice, but I was
before his ballot slip was picked.
To all those who were unsuccessful, wish all the best. I believe all children deserve education regardless who they are.... -

i'm staying across the street from Kranji ... and next to Yew Tee Pri
DLS is Phase2C (and yes, under 1 km ... else no chance at all)
chose DLS bcos of it's one of the SJI affliated schools
and also bcos mission schools ... supposedly less likelihood of my boy getting bullied in P1 LOL
yeah, have heard of such incidences ... i suppose more proned if one's child is from a church kindergarten
but yes, i agree academically Yew Tee is better ... but i suspect this could be the top 1 or 2 class (my main concern is how do the rest of P6 classes fair against DLS (although i'm kinda clueless of the latter's as well hahaha) -

Hi thks! Am comparing both academic & cca. Not sure if I m too idealist, looking at a more well rounded kind of sch...
this year's exercise hottest in and around Yew Tee area is Unity
personally dunno why (nor have any feedback) ... but i suspect :
1) most Yew Tee residents living across the street from Regent Grove condo could be out of the 1km radius to DLS (one option less) EDITED : closer to Sungei Kadut / Park Connector by the canal
2) seems to me like more PRs in that area too
3) perhaps they all chose Unity instead bcos Yew Tee produced very good results in PSLE (making it hotter)
4) Unity could be closer to their homes
5) networking purposes ... parents acquainted thru (a) being neighbors (b) or kids same kindergarten ... agree to go same school ... so if busy, others can help them fetch etc
btw, are you gathering info ahead for next year's registration exercise ?
i think all PV applications for next year's have closed ...
i believe the cutoff date was sometime in July
but if you have already a school in mind
perhaps you might wanna consider just calling or writing to appeal (dun wait too long though)
do what you have to to avoid Phas2 2C please ... but if contemplating RC route, i'm afraid that's too late (you gotta be a one year serving member prior to registration)
and yes, DLS too started PV recently
i missed that window of opportunity
we enquired about it sometime in Aug / Sep 2010 (they didn't have the PV scheme yet then)
so i was surprised when i chanced upon their website reg PV applications
but even then, i was too late
the cutoff was March 2011, i was late by 2 months and so didn't try appealing
but having gone thru balloting ...
i strongly urge you to appeal PV if possible
well when i counted the PRs for DLS was 30 i was feeling optimistic about my chances
imagine going thru 6o over names (plus repeated slips of those already picked) and still no sign of a change of luck ... not fun at all
a big relieve when it's picked ... and the tension of balloting is so high (regardless of which sch u may be) ... chances are you won't even remember who it was who picked your slip (unless it's someone you know) ... and who you've picked for after that LOL
hope above offer some help ...
cheers -

Hi there, anyone opting for Teck Whye Primary in phase2c supp?
appreciate any sharing on this school.
thank you.
Although Teck Whye Primary was not my choice for my Dd due to home distance, it was my alma matar some twenty odd years ago. I met two very good Chinese teachers and an inspiring young teacher. I went on to nanyang girls' and have classmates going to good secondary schools. I know the teachers won't be there anymore and the school has been outshone by many others. During my school days, there were bullies :wrongmove: and p7 or p8 students but there were real life stories that kept me grounded. :please:
I even have a p6 teacher who gave us too much preview to questions in exams that we stage a protest to complain to the principal and moe about.
It taught us integrity and honesty that wasn't present. P.s. I am not a lawyer now...ī
This P1 exercise drives us crazy but we must have faith in ourselves and our children. We make the difference as much if not more than the school.
Good luck!
