to parents who were unsuccessful in the balloting, the road of primary school education has just started. on and off, you will feel the disappointment creeping back and wonder how life would be if you have succeeded in the balloting especially when the school is just 'downstairs' from your house. however, you should be console as you had already done what you can by giving what you hope for, a shot. primary school life and experiences belong to our children, and while we can try what we tried, it is after all their life to live.

for phase2csupp strategy, my suggestions are,
      1. try to go for schools within 1km. the least, you get to ballot if it is oversubscribed.
      2. do bear in mind that MOE will do the arrangement for those unsuccessful in phase2csupp balloting. if it is true that MOE will post to the nearest available school (any one can confirm??), look at the most 'unpopular' schools that are nearest to you. are you able to accept it/them? if yes, you may want to try your preferred 2nd choice school that has few vacancies left and subject yourself to balloting again (if your heart can take it). if you are unable to accept being posted to 'unpopular' schools, opt for a safer preferred 3rd choice school with more vacancies. bear in mind distance too...because in my opinion, every other schools that are not first preferred school ie schools with vacancies left at this stage, tends to be on par with one another and while you cannot possibly accurately gauge the teaching quality, one thing you can control is the distance your kid get to travel to and fro school each and every day.

it will be tougher for parents who do not have any more schools that is within 1km, so this group of parents may want to opt for schools with more vacancies.

      good luck to all.
Jedamum, thank you for your words of wisdom! Even though it's not my turn to register this year, but will be doing so in 3 years' time (so kiasu right??), really helps to sharpen the strategy to use at the final stretch. šŸ˜„

I feel for all the parents who weren't successful today. :grphug: Even though I have not gone thru this yet, I can only imagine one needs a very strong heart to go through the balloting, probably dare not even breathe, with heart thumping ultra fast! I don't know if I can even sit properly in my seat if I had to go thru balloting.

But look forward to the future and make the best use of P2CS in the coming wk. Good to do some retail therapy/food therapy/massage therapy/beauty therapy, anything that makes you feel better, so that you can come back refreshed and re-energised to strategise that next step this wkend! Then can enjoy your National Day (not easy but try). šŸ˜„

Within Serangoon, there is only Zhonghua but the vacancies is 122 (quite high). Alternatively, you may want to consider schools in the Hougang area. Note that even if you are outside 1km, as long as the school has enough vacancies, there is no need for balloting.

All the best in your P2C Supp.
I wan to consider YCK pri but also worry tat will end up going thru another round of balloting again, since we outside 1km... With 84 unsuccessful parents from rosyth today plus those spill over from nearby schools like hougang pri & ximin, even tho yck pri got 92 seats left but also possible need balloting rite? Haiz, the more I think the feel I more sianz...

Can I ask if in the end I still dun get the choice tat I wan, mean moe will assign a school for me b4 phase 3 starts? Or I hav to try phase3 on my own? And if MOE assign for me I must take up?!? Coz there is one particular school tat I really dun wish to put my kid there 😢

I still cant accept that we have to ballot and vie with PRs when we are NATIVE SINGAPOREANS!!! ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!! What THE --- !!!

Although we have 2 slips compared to them 1 slip, I still feel that why should we even have to ballot with them in the 1st place??? Puzzled??? Disappointed!!! Frustrated!!!
Why are we not given the priority!!! Tell ME!!!

For P2C Supp. have YCK Pri as your 1st choice and monitor applicant #s for the registration period. If need to ballot for outside 1km or maybe no chance for outside 1km, withdraw application and put in your 2nd choice. You may need a 3rd choice as well. Note that not all unsuccessful in nearby popular schools will qualify for within 1km for YCK Pri as well. Many may be outside 1km, in the same boat as you. You just need to monitor closely and make sure you have your 2nd and 3rd choice at hand should it work out to be in your disadvantage. Make your choices wisely as this is your last phase of choice.

We are KS, but they can be MORE KS than us.

Ya although I managed to get in the Sch that I want but I strongly agreed that PR should join only in 2c supplement nor 2c

Hi I've been a 'quiet observer' for the past few years. I would like thank chiefkiasu and all of you for the invaluable sharing of experiences and strategies as it has been a great help in planning for my girl's P1 registration this year. I'm one of the few lucky ones that manage to get our school of choice. Congratulations to those that are successful and all the best to those going trying for 2C sup. I agree with most parents that this is just the beginning of long journey and let's all jia you :rahrah:
