I have friends are PR, they are PV at popular school and managed to go in, they planned in advance, even more kiasu than us Singaporean
The PRs will be more kiasu because they are not locals...so they will go all the way to make sure they secure a place. We are KS, but they can be MORE KS than us.verykiasu2010:

most of the time you are competing with fellow super kiasu singaporeans -
Ya although I managed to get in the Sch that I want but I strongly agreed that PR should join only in 2c supplement nor 2c

Hi I've been a 'quiet observer' for the past few years. I would like thank chiefkiasu and all of you for the invaluable sharing of experiences and strategies as it has been a great help in planning for my girl's P1 registration this year. I'm one of the few lucky ones that manage to get our school of choice. Congratulations to those that are successful and all the best to those going trying for 2C sup. I agree with most parents that this is just the beginning of long journey and let's all jia you :rahrah:

I am one of those parents who balloted yesterday and I was truly blessed and was successful. The process is nothing less than excruciating and stressful and yet so many of us have had to go through it, not just once but some even twice at 2B and 2C.
PRs aside, MOE should also look at the rate they are converting schools to single sessions, many schools have had to cut 1 class so they can get to single session asap. This should not be at the expense of parents who now need to go out of the way to send their kids to schools less convenient. How to have more kids like that? Itβs never going to work

So the SHHK schools cover a wide range, huh ?
what does SHHK stand for?Happy Mama:
Being to Pei Tong a couple of times, seems not bad, it is SHHK school
But I've heard so much negative feedback about PT including the kids' rowdy behavior. Have not seen it personally though.

This process of converting schools to single sessions had started about 7-8 years ago, and my DS was within the initial batches that suffered from this. At that time, a large number of schools converted to single session, and reduce intake by 10% or more. Schools initially \"within our reach\" ended up having to ballot for 1-2km, and we had to do PV in order to get our DS into either of the 2 nearest schools. Of course, at that time it was much easier compared with now, but nonetheless, it was early planning and strategising that helps and we were not caught unaware.I am one of those parents who balloted yesterday and I was truly blessed and was successful. So, if you are referring to this conversion to single session, it is not new (in fact, it has been delayed). Parents who are concerned should plan early, get to know the schools and review statistics of schools, else you will be too late to act. Those who have planned well (with back-up plans and please know the odds against you and work at minimising these) usually have things more in control. -
