Question for lionheart/parents with kids in higher levels.

There is no SA/CA although the kids are somehow graded. Do the kids stay with the same class in P2? Do the P1 teacher 'follow' them to P2?

        Thanks!
Yes. P 1 Form teacher will follow thru till P2

relieved to hear that HongWen has capped the no. of PV 😂 . So what is the number eh?

well aware the wild card sit @ the grassroot & the clan... this's the chance we have to take yah.... we cant do anything yo....

update us of any change of the 2B/ PV which hong wen gonna help parents yah...
          This is a personal view..

It's chicken and egg issue. For a school to succeed.. It needs lots of resource and support from parents. If the pv number is low, teachers will be strained, but obviously more seats available for 2c. Is this good for the school in the long run? As I see it, it is a debate on 'school vs parent interest' .

As a HWS parent and psg, I see our HWS parents not forthcoming when we request for parents to step up to support school. When we ask for parents to support reading program or any others; the response rate is poor; when we ask for parent to attend school feedback sessions, the turnout is less than 5% of the cohort. The situation is putting a hand to school to look for 'committed parents' . Hope you see a balanced view of things.

            Thanks lionheart for the info.

Sorry to say I’m one of those who don’t (or can’t) support the school more in its activities. Personally, i think it’s great that there is a pv program where parents, if they are keen, can come and get to know the school better. I registered my child under 2B. It was good to get to know the school that little bit better and prepare myself for any culture shock.

Yes, parents of would be P1s and existing parents, I do hope there can be more contributors to this thread. At least parents of prospective kids can get to know what HWS is about and how life is inside. Sometimes it feels a bit like talking xiangsheng (few pp talk, but maybe quite a few more listen in). 🙂

            Happy National Day!!

              Dear all,

I was wondering that does this before and after school center take in student from other Primary School? I were not able to enrol my child to HWS as i was using SD and the staff say that they only enrol child within 1 KM. With the SD i have they regards me for 1-2 KM, which i am very disappointed as my mother in law house was around 500m away from HWS. I am currently working in oversea and was thinking to put my child in before and after school center in HWS.

Mike, The school care centre is meant for HWS students only.

I want to contribute but is it ok for me to bring along my bb? She's very quiet and contented as long as I carry or piggyback her. I do not have domestic helper, so I'm all she has during the day 😄. I piggyback her when I'm doing the housework and she will just fall asleep heehee. But my window is very small too becos DS is in PM session for kindy sigh.....

I think if the PSG is very supportive, then it's easier to control the number for PVs, thus resulting in a win-win situation, higher chances for PVs in P2B and more vacancies in P2C, yet still have sufficient support for school and the students.

There might be many reasons why parents are not able to step up, it could be because they are unable to take leave, not confident of their competencies or skills for the tasks at hand, or like me no babysitter.

                        Hi All,

I am currently doing my PV duty @ HWS. I have been following KPF for many years, but always a SILENT READER ~~~SHY
Currently there are so much talk about "PV" and whether is fair to have all these phases of enrolling a kid in school that I myself is getting worried. I’m so afraid that there will be a sudden change of rule next year for kids enrolling P1 in 2013.
All these years, since my DD1 was 3, I been diligently reading forum, asking questions and doing my homework in order to increase our chances. The only thing that I hesitated to do is "move house". We live within 1-2 km of HWS. Nobody knows what is going to happen next year during the 2B phase. Even KH broke its trend this year where 2B <1km has to ballot.
Anyway, I do believe that in order for a school system to work well, parents play a very important roll. I’m very involved in my kids’ school activities. Even now whenever the CC calls for PV, I never say "no" to them.
Let’s all pray that there’s no shocking news for next year enrollment.
