      phtthp:
how much Catholic teaching curriculum is imparted to pupils in the school ?

how does the school teach character building values ?

do students need to attend Mass chapel ? how often each week ?
what is taught during Mass ?
The girls have to learn Catholic hymms. As for Cathetism classes on Fridays, it's only for Catholic girls...those who are not will attend Ethics. That's as far as I know.

        Janet,

your son is in Pei Hwa - Presbyterian denomination.

your daughter is in CHIJ Toa Payoh - Catholic denomination.

how do you guide your children such that their faith don’t get confused ?

We are neither Catholics nor Christians...buddhists actually. They don't get confused. Kids attended a Christian kindy.

                Hi Janet

How is the workload in p1? Is it v hectic?
Read in your earlier threads that standards is high. Is that so for Chinese too? Any gd recommendation on assessment books for them in pri 1?
I got the vertical thinking but hv not started yet.
As for grammar will school recommend any grammar guidebook or we shld get 1 on our own to teach first?

There is not much homework brought home...most are done in school. Standard wise, I understand P1-2 now are the same in most schools now...because there is no CA/SA, there are tests to assess the kids.

As for assessment book, you can get 1-2 for each subject. For CL though, it's not possible to find one which follows closely what is taught in school. There is one other title which I find useful...it helps for the CL spelling from Term 3.
Regarding assessment books, you can get 1 title for grammar, vocab, comprehension, writing and cloze. You may want to read this thread...'all about preparing for P1' http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=117&start=940

                        No worries.
I am getting my girl to revise and practice comprehension these few days...luckily there are 2 school holidays to do so.
