It’s not impossible to have Masters for teachers, it just takes more time, which at this stage, I agree, we might not have time for it becos of shortage.

Maybe my way of thinking is weird. It does not matter what they learn in primary school. It can be algebra, model maths, etc. I don’t mind if school assign remedial for weaker students. It’s ok if weaker students are identified and there’s a system in place to enable them to catch up. In our situation, I find that the system just aim at finding those who can make it and those that can’t are left behind literally.

I have no issue about identifying weaker students but don’t at this stage reduce their workload or content in the name of helping them. It’s not helping them. When content and workload is reduced without any means of adding on, the kid cannot catch up even when he/she wants to.

Yes, there’s competition everywhere. In US, parents queue for good pte kindy, Austrailian parents move to be in the same district as the school of choice. In Japan, if study in 2nd or 3rd grade uni, then career like die…I just feel here, we are like a factory, QCing at every stage.
