NUSH's condition is that the student must have scored A* in both Math and Science. I guess that helps in selecting students who are strong in the two subjects. But it doesn't mean they'll do well in NUSH.
But NUSH says they strongly encourage the rejected students to reapply again with PSLE score. In a way it may give false impression to the kids and parents so they reapply with PSLE score.jtoh:
Didn't say it doesn't happen elsewhere. Just saying what I know to be true of a specific school in response to parents' posting that if their kids were not successful via DSA they would reconsider sending their kids to NUSH, even if their PSLE grades allowed them to. However, given that NUSH is a specialized school with its accelerated Math and Science programme, it wouldn't surprise me that there are more students having a tough time in the later years compared to other top IP schools which are more broad-based in nature.
Having said that, there are a number of brilliant students in NUSH who thrive in the school's highly accelerated environment and continue to surpass their teachers' expectations.
If a kid can get into NUSH with PSLE score, the kid can get into almost every other school too. -

You would probably need at least 3A* but it needn't be in Math and Science to get >260. You could get A* in English, Chinese and Math, score >260 and not qualify for NUSH.
Can a student still get 264 and above without A* in math and science ? Normally need at least 3A* to get that score right ? -
jtoh:
two high A* and two high A, and the exam papers for the A* papers are super tough to widen the SD
I would think so.ngbrdad:
