Hi Parents,


Can share what is the difference/strength between these schools. I hope to enroll my child for P1 in 2011. Being the lowest priority group - Phase 2C, guess I have to be more hardworking to nail down a school to do parent volunteer.

1. Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road)
2. Anglo-Chinese School (Junior)
3. Anglo-Chinese School (Primary)

only s/n 2 and 3 are primary schools and to my knowledge, they don't seek parent volunteers. I think the only chance of getting in with 2C is if you live within 1 km.

wah, so the parents must be extremely rich to migrate the whole family to that district. My last check for a 3-RM apt cost abt $2.6millions :?:


based on their ballot results, Phase 2C need ballot ... if didn't get a place there, what will MOE do?

nope - 1. is the secondary school, 3. is the primary school. The secondary school has traditionally been called \"Anglo Chinese School\", without \"secondary\".

I recently had a conversation with a colleague of mine on primary schools. I told him that we would like to admit our son to ACS Primary (or Junior), and he gave me a frown, and gave me his reasons. Anyway, it all comes back to the same source - "full of kids from rich family"


So, the question I wanted to pose is, whether your kids who are already in there, are they actually affected by this "rich kid" thing i.e. peer pressure to have this and that, been here and there, and that sort . . .

It would be great if I could have some headsup on this . .

There is no shame in being in a school full of rich kids. And frankly, I feel that those people who made comments about the school is for the rich are just jealous.

This is not really true. My son is P3 now in ACSP and for the last 3 years, there are rich boys and also HDB boys, so there is a mixture but to the boys, this does not affect the friendship. Only when there are parties, some are grand and some are simple but the boys are happy just to play together.

I do have a friend who is an ex-ACS alumni. He was by no means rich when he was in school… and he is quite adament that his 2 children goes back to study in his alma mater. The ACS alumni is definitely very supportive of their old school, as indicative of the extremely high take up rates in Phase 1-2A of every P1 Registration exercises.

Pleasant surprise that subsequent to the above posting, I found out one of my colleagues was from ACS Primary, and one of my Directors kid was also from there. They gave similar facts, but different interpretation.


well, anyway, we are quite final (especially my wife) on our school of choice for our DS . . just wanted to learn more of the \"insights\", so hopefully we're well prepared for it.
