        Hi

DD is now K1 and attending 3rd term of I Can Read course. She's learning abbreviation, punctuations, grammar, etc. She shows some frustration when doing the homework as it seems that she doesn't really understand what was required (Qns. on abbreviation, punctuations) and needs our help in doing the homework. From the PTM, I understand that the teacher doesn't really focus on K1 students in the class but more on K2 and P1, as he views that K1 is rather young/early to attend this course. In fact, he suggested that if the K1 can't cope, we can always pull them out and re-join when they are ready for it.

Does anyone's kid also attending I Can Read course at 5yo, too? Is your kid able to cope? Do you find that it's rather an advance course for 5yo kid?
My DS is 5yr old. He is still on dithrongs, have not gone to abbreviation and punctuations yet. I find it ok except for the spelling part....

Hmm its probably true different branch has different standards. My son didnt have homework, not even spelling. When i asked him what he did in class, he told me : read, and read lor. And he could tell me :\"ma, when we were reading in class, the teacher was busy with her phone :P\"

            Sigh....
may i know which branch ur child in?

After reading this thread i’ve the impression that ICR staff and teachers are quite atas ( snobbish). I’m not sure about other centres but i’ve first hand bad experience today. This lady (i’ll omit her name here)from ICR @ Parkway Parade is definitely very rude. I made an appt with them for assessment prior to registration. I’ve tried my best to be punctual; i booked a taxi in advance, went thru ERP and paid surcharge. However I was caught in a bad traffic jam. So while in taxi, I called the centre that i’ll be there in 5 mins. However she rejected me outright, that I’m 10mins late and the teachers will start their class soon in 10 mins time. I pleaded to her to help me in any way she could. I asked if she could just ask the teachers whether they can free up some time since i’ll be there very soon. But she retaliated in a haughty manner that she is the xxx (impt position in the centre) and said, "can you be right here in my centre right now??!! As in, right now?!" Obviously i could only reach in 5 mins but she was really sarcastic. And she also offered 30 bucks voucher to " compensate my cab fair"; I feel so insulted with her monetary offer.

I am very shocked with her mannerism. This is totally uncalled for.

                Hi pancake77,

I am totally with you as this is uncalled for as they are the service provider. I remember that time I was late for assessment and never encounter this rude behavior. I rather forgo this centre for classes.

I am shocked to hear that. I do know that they are extremely busy as they have back to back classes. I hope your kid managed to get assessed by them.

Hmm I didnt know ICR has such \"bonus\" to compensate parents with voucher...

If not wrong, there are only 2 teachers there.. The male is better...
