Well, if u wanna take a mynmar and u want someone with some experience, then got to settle for one that has completed 2 yrs…of course u must not rely on the agents recommendation ,passport would hv been renewed… check the passport to see whether done a few months or 2 yrs.

Alot of mynmars hv been sent back after their loan due to some reason, they come back after 3 months claiming to be an ex- spore and agent price them as high as 450 cos they have some english. If they are good the agent and employer would hv recommended a new employer instead of going home. Most of them that come back after 8 or 10 months in spore normally hv handphones, these are the ones that are very sociable with lots of spore contacts.

Totally agree with moonee. Actually if these Burmese can do their job well, I don’t see any problem giving them hp and off day. But the problem is sometimes they cannot even do a good housekeeping job, can’t cook and can’t care for young babies but yet demand to have hp and off day. Ridiculous, I think!!

Most burmese are overpriced, my last maid that lasted 10 mths was 340 n ex spore was 360. Then utd channel priced it at 350 min. I wasnt prepared to go on with them but 3 mths back they went up to min 400 and some at 460. (What a rip off) When asked for 350, they came up with some previous biodatas that Ive seen b4.

I checked around bukit timah plaza and most freshies were going at 400. I found one on the third level n wanted to take Indon or filipina but was told to wait 6 wks for filipina n no Indons at that time, so left with mynmar. The agent quoted 400, I told her no way cos fresh n no english// not worth their price. I offered 380 n he agreed immediately.
My maids contract is 380 but I m not paying that price cos Ive already cleared her loan n m not gonna pay 380 shld she still be aroundafter her loan, besides she mention that her 2 other friends came in at 350 frm t same agent n on the same day. With hardly any english and alot of frustration I told her I may nt keep her till her loan ends n should she b around after her loan I will lower her salary n recontract if she wants to stay on provided she change her attitude n stop stealing my food, breaking my things etc… She does not seem to mind a lower salary cos she knows she cant even make 100 bucks a month in mynmar.
There are many employers that recontract their maids salary when they come in (filipinas too) besides alot of mynmars dont even know how much their paid till they get to spore. Anyway Ill pay her wat she is worth.
The agents sure know how to take advantage of us when we are in need, they start shouting high prices when there was a shortage of indons and longer waiting time for filipinas, so now their pricing mynmars at high prices and saying its due to inflation. Alot of bull they are!
The same time I took my current maid, my friend was paying 380 for a filipina and another at 360. Im willing to pay the market rate for the other 2 nationalities then to hv to stress myself over a burmese.

Moonee, I didn’t know we can re-contract maid’s salary. I thot eveything must follow contract set by agency. Maids these days are very streetsmart, even the fresh ones, and they know their rights and have no qualms to threaten complains to MOM if we don’t follow contract.

My last maid (taken her in Aug 2010) was a philipino and she was x singapore at $360. But she was so lazy I had to send her home.

Yes angelight, the maids are now very streetsmart. They know that they can start off with a high salary but question is can they meet with the demands of the employer and duties. My past agent told me tat there are quite a few employers that re-adjust the salary when the maid goes to their homes, his concern is more with the loan and his agreement serves as a guide line for both parties but finally if the employer and maid agree to a lower salary he leaves it to them to negotiate and would gladly amend the contract if the employer wants him to. Some employers come out with a new contract on their own. Personally, I have taken maids at the price tht the agent recommended but when I complained that they could not perform and i was being overcharge, the agent re-adjusted the salary lower. I guess its more effective than sending her back for a transfer or back home.

Good idea.. Will keep that in mind when I employ new maid... Was shocked to see Fresh burmese asking for 400 and the ex Singapore ones asking for 500... :faint:
