Attended a talk by MOE about DSA. For example, if you get WL from RI and CO from HCI, you first choice is RI, you should put RI. This will not compromise your CO from HCI. So if you dont get into RI (bcos WL), HCI will still give you a spot as you have CO from them. This is what the MOE lady said.

Does any one know if HMT is compulsory in NYGH? Can DD do normal MT? If not, what if she doesnt do well in HMT? MT thing is really not her cup of tea

HMT is compulsory in NYGH. Based on my friend's experience, her dd had to re-take her end of year HMT exam because she scored the equivalent of a B in it. :yikes: We thought a B was pretty decent, but apparently it wasn't good enough.

HMT is a core subject so the marks will go into the calculation of the MSG.

            Hi parents,

Just getting your opinions - IF you DD/DS tried DSA for School A (1st choice) and School B (Backup choice). Then got CO from School B, but reject by School A. What will you do?

Would you take CO from Sch B first and do the despicable thing? That is after PSLE see how the result then appeal
OR - resigned to fate regardless of PSLE result

From experience, many students were transferring from one sch to another during the first 2 weeks of Sec 1

What is MSG???[/quote]I think MSG is the grading system used by some schools (Mean Score Grading or something like that?). There is a minimum score you need to achieve for year 1, 2, 3.....in order to be \"promoted\" to the next year.

                  Hi Lynn2010

I worked in one of the top lawfirm and u can actually tell if those young lawyers were from RGS bcos they basically do not hv good EQ (sorry RGS girls). They are simply too proud to talk to you. In fact I was discussing with my boss (a senior partner) and she also felt that NYGH girls are both good in study and better character, she also mentioned that NYGH has given an impression that it is a chinese sch, but that was in the past. she feels that NYGH is better as in educated in all rounded.

Any one here goes through interview in MGS?

To 加盐加醋,heard from my cousin who was working in a big local consultancy firm that they do NOT recruit rafflesians. Reason=attitude problem. Don't flame me ah. :siam:

                    Hi Wormy,

Thanks for the info. With such tight labour market, wont they be desperate? Which sch grad do they prefer? Besides, these RG will go to RJC and then a uni. If they go overseas, is it better?

Ultimately this is just Sec then JC we are talking abt. I feel that uni most important. Therefore, i thought RGS, RJC, NYGS, MGS, SCGS, etc, these are good schools. Most importantly is to shape their character as the kids are going through their teenage years 🙂

They are unlikely to be desperate as they are one of the biggest local consultancy firm. Sorry can't disclose name. It's their unwritten HR policy. Then again, most R students would end up reading science/law/medicine in uni, very few to business/finance/accounting. And hence fewer to join consultancy field. Am I right?

Congratulations to Pinky88, realwhiz and DaddyDaddy on receiving the reassuring news from Mdm Heng today!

Looks like our DDs will end up being school/class mates next yr. I feel so assured leaving my DD in the capable hands of Mdm Heng.
