this morning, i overheard ah pehs discussing 7171, 4641, 4614, as the potential lucky 4-D numbers.
7171 cos TT & TCB are both at their 71th years.
4641 cos S’pore is now 46th years old and this year, it is the "1st" time
‘4" candidates run for presidency…
my 7 years boy asked me to vote for TT or TCB cos they are the oldest, so must give than "chance" to be president as they might not have many years to go !!!

Snowball, your DS may be young, but he does speak sense.
TKL and esp. TJS are still young, can come back again after 4 yrs. But TT and TCB will be quite elderly to run for presidency by then. snowball:

If one of the roles of the President is to unite the Nation, I wonder, if elected, will TJS unite the Nation or divide the Nation further??

What if the President has an agenda to destabilise the g'ment by pitting them against the people? That's against the g'ment but not for the people. Certainly it had been something that was suggested when the EP was first put in place.
3. In trying to do so, the President is going against the govt but is for the people.
So, in this case, is it a case of divide or unite??

I doubt he will even make any small step which is out of sync with the cabinet’s direction, so my vote is going to TJS or TCB.

Shanmugam has already clarified, the govt can remove the President on certain valid reasons. I think TJS and TCB are well-educated and intelligent enough to know what they should be doing.
I am worried a little with TKL though. He means well, but sometimes he does not put it across in a proper manner. -

19 unions have come out to support TT. So ???? Everyone pls use our own judgement and vote wisely. My overseas boss was askinge about my views on PE. To me unlike GE, this is just a figure head where we wonder at value add of the individual. Overhead 2 uncle's conversation that see who has the president face then vote for the person afterall the president and his wife photos will be all over the place.. Food for thoughts.
That's why I mention I can only understand this PE from the point of view of a Beauty Contest. How about if we cannot decide on the men's faces, look at their wifes' faces? Same too I said to my hubby, we will be seeing the President AND the First Lady's portraits all over the place. Why not choose the best looking pair?
To me, Mrs TT look really kindly and nice! I am surprise TKL's wife look so good! :evil: He always said his wife said he must be mad to be running for the PE so I always thought his wife must look like an Ah Soh! :rotflmao:

Haiz, this past GE and now this presidential election may have cost me a few friends. :roll:
Wanted to hold my tongue but could not in a few instances and that led to some rather heated discussions. Not that I am that into politics. But I find some of the comments made rather self centred of these people and also petty.
A bunch of friends, all holding executive positions in various MNCs actually alluded that they will spoil their votes because they do not think that any of the candidates are suitable. So I asked them who then do they think will be suitable, no names. I kinda said since they don't think anyone can do the job, why not try to see if they themselves can make the cut to run.
It is a privilege to be able to vote and these people are making a joke out of it. Even if these 4 candidates are not your ideal choice, you owe it to yourselves to pick the one whom you think is the closest to your ideal and vote for that one.
Just my 2 cent views and rant. Dun flame me hor.
