Next year dragon kids will be applying for DSA, will it be tough getting a CO/WL?

      it won't be more difficult or less difficult

      DSA is by absolute merit, not a matter of supply and demand, and there is no quota to fill;

      and PSLE is a national ranking exam....so, as long as you are ranked ahead of others, you get to choose the schools first

      Hi, we heard that maximum intake of DSA cannot be more than 50% of the total sec 1 intake for the year during the open house talk, inclusive of GEP, sports, SMOPs and other academic domain. Not too sure if anyone else heard that....

        :gloomy: Aiyo...today is such a wet & gloomy day!

        Just recvd rejection email from RGS.. Scratching our heads why DD is rejected...DD is a mainstreamer, top gal in a neighbourhood sch, scoring above 90% since P1, has UNSW High distinctions & other awards, won at least two individual trophies for National Competiton in sports since P4. During the last interview with RGS, DD felt she had done her best & her classmate who was in the same interview as her, witnessed the interviewers being visibly impressed with DD & she congrats her for her superb eloquence & quick thinking. DD as usual in her humble self dismissed the praises.

        πŸ˜„ Luckily, we hv set our eyes with NYGH ( of which a CO has already been recvd :rahrah: ) way before & there was just no deep sense of disappointment but full of WHYs huh? :?
        Hi Cestmoi,
        First of all, I wan u to know that I (many too) am very impressed with yr DD achievement. It's \"their\" lost not yr DD, I strongly believes that yr DD will excel further with NYGH! A fine lady in the making! :imcool:

Not too sure if anyone else heard that....
the 50% is set by the school themselves; if they wish, they can go all the way 100%...independent school has 100% autonomy on admission...by setting at 50%, the school also want to catch some more high scorers via PSLE scores...and don't want to be accused by parents of being unfair not giving chance to PSLE scores....

                  But isn’t ACI GEP only meant to be for GEP students only?? u mean they also take in ACS(P) & ACS(J) main streamers for GEP class? Or ACI does not have classes specially for GEP students?
No, GEPers and Main Streamers can apply to ASC(I) IP 6 years programme. There are no ACS(I) GEP classes for GEP students only.

                      Hi cestmoi, sorry to hear that. I'm sure with your dd's credentials, she will excel in any school she chooses to go.

                        Ya, sorry to hear and the good thing is that she had secured a CO. Yes I do agree that it's rather puzzling as there doesn't seem to be a norm to this year's DSA. Cousin's son achieved NSW High distinction in math, SMOPS Platinum, RIWMC Distinction, NMOS Gold and yet was rejected by RI too. :?
