Information provided below is correct for Orientation 2009...the year DD registered for 2010 P1. Not sure if anything changed since then...so please don't :torchme: me if things are run differently now. πŸ˜‰

      VooVoo:

Do we need the book list before we can order online?

i think book list is given during orientation

The book list, together with information on school uniform, orientation, class assigned, house colour, etc. will be mailed as a package to your home before the orientation.

Just to share, you can go to the school website to order the books online and I believe they do deliver to homes (my friend did it 2 yrs ago), and if you are really KS go to \"Shanghai school uniform\" to get the uniforms.
The school's bookshop is run by http://www.pacificbookstores.com/, so you order the books through Pacific Bookstores' website.

Within Pacific's website, you will be presented with a list of schools and you can select the appropriate school and level. Upon doing that, you will then see the book list, from which you can pick what you want to order.

After which, you can choose to have the books delivered, or for collection during orientation. Pacific will be present on orientation day with boxes and boxes of books pre-packed and labelled with the child's BC no. You will just need to queue up to pick them up. Recommend that you check through the contents to make sure everything is in order.

For school uniforms, http://www.nyps.moe.edu.sg/PDFs/SSU_intro.pdf will also be there on orientation day, taking up 2 classrooms. One room for measuring and trying on, while the other for purchasing.

If you want to avoid queueing (or being kiasu like I was), you can purchase everything before or after orientation. I found that with Popular membership, the textbooks are a tad cheaper if purchased from Popular. So I basically just ordered the exercise books, jotter books, files, everything-else-with-NYPS-logo through Pacific.

Thought of putting my only son to Nanyang Primary. Not sure of the chances even if I get to stay within 1 km.

Historically, balloting is definite. As for chances, hovering around 50% if you are in phase 2C (open to citizens and PRs)

                        Hi!

For mummies/ daddies who did PV in nyps, if you all dun mind can share:

                        1) your vocation / job specialisation
                        2) what u did for your PV
                        3) when did u apply for PV, the yr that your kid is 3/4?

I am wondering what is the chance of being selected as a PV in ny. My fren teaching in nyps told me very hard to get in.... 😞
